Not sure if this is a good place or maybe Scotch would like to start the thread himself.

The Badugi series is available in the magazine.

To start I had a simple preflop question:

I am dealt 45T otb 3 handed and get called by BB who draws 1. If I decide snowing is out of the question do I draw 1 or 2?

I would definitely draw 2. Snowing later in the hand is something I would always consider but for reasons that I stated in this month’s article I don’t often snow right from the onset. By waiting you first give yourself a chance to make a hand and you also represent a stronger Badugi by snowing later because badugis attained via drawing are stronger than those initially dealt. Although if your opponent is drawing two you can snow right from the beginning imo

Just to note I think the 45 is basically the bottom of my opening range in this game. For the articles I believed I suggested A4 but the series starts Badugi from scratch and I’m not sure beginners should go much wider

Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, I see in your article you recommend opening tighter than 45T otb.

Since it is not popular enough most of my action is heads up and was thinking that any two cards 6 and lower enough to raise from smbl in postion? And any tri 9 and lower? Being a limit game I want free blinds and can't be too tight?

I do like your trick of always considering a snow in position if an opp draws 2. Definitely most snowable game.

I do like 27 triple draw the most tho. Do you think badugi is more fun and/or more profitable than 27TD? To me it has potential to be the most fun at least.
Is badugi your favorite in the 12 mix? or do you like the split badugi games more?

Yeah I think the 45 is playable and 3 card 9s are okay. If you open up to those that’s probably around 46% of your hands or so. It’s all guesswork basically. It isn’t like limit Hold’em where winning grinders have millions of hands to examine the results.

I also enjoy 27TD more. You can make money in Badugi if people make hideous mistakes but that’s getting less frequent. Deuce is more challenging thus more potential to gain an edge, for example maybe you can get more value in spots where others may take a more passive line.

Not sure what my favorite game is, but draw split pot games are so much better online

The link is dead because articles are only on the site for six months

Once they roll off the Magazine I post them up here:

Part 2 is in limbo right now as it hasn't been updated yet because Part 2 just rolled off the magazine

No, after 6 months the rights to the articles go back to the author.
