You're only 55% likely to complete the flush, I'm not sure if that's a great move since fouling is a significant issue. It's a high variance move to say the least.

How would you play the hand? I'm still new, but I'd give myself 2-3 pulls to hit my 4th diamond. If I pair a bottom card before that I'll change my plan from flushing to hitting 2 pair or trips. The only card I don't wanna see in my first couple of draws is a K, but I don't mind seeing the K.

Still wish there was more discussion on this game. I don't get a chance to play it, but love the thinking involved.

Yeah, that's the problem with the hand given. None of the other options are that desirable. It still might be the best play, but I definitely would abandon ship if I don't get a diamond within 2 or 3 pulls like you suggest or if you can pair the queen since I understand fouling = screwed. I don't play the game though, so my thoughts may be worthless...lol

I've fiddled with the cards abit. The general strategy is to put low ranking cards in front (Unless you are aiming for fantasyland), middle ranking cards in the middle and high ranking cards at the back so that you do not foul as fouling would cost 6 points.

Typically if you have 3 suited cards which are comparably high to the other 2I would recommend to put it at the back and try to complete your flush. If you have a high pair and another high cards... If you have something like KdQcQs7c5d generally I would play it like this...

Top: 5d Middle: 7c Bottom: KdQsQc

Obviously you can also put the Qc in the middle, but I wouldn't do it for a few reasons. Because KQQ can complete a fullhouse. Also putting the Qc in the middle doesn't complete anything, you are 3 cards to a flush..

Anyway hit me with a few scenarios or starting hands I would tell you how I arrange them and why..

Yes, but notice that all your 3 back cards are diamonds but lower cards then your middle card and it is somewhat or a risky play if you can't complete your flush..

I would play it more conservatively putting KQ at the back.

I have been trying to figure out how to play this game for awhile. I don't live where this game would run or others know how to play, so is the best strategy to learn downloading the app and playing the AI for awhile? Thank you for your help

I wish they did too. Seems crazy because the game is becoming super popular, especially across the Atlantic.

I think it would be relatively easy to write a bot for this game and take advantage of the human players.

For micro stakes MAYBE, but doubt it since game is simple and even micro stackers won't be that bad

If the AI was easy to make real good , there would be atleast a mediocre one Ai out .... The current one on the app couldn't beat my grandma ... Then I think they switched it up so it cheats to compete

This hand should be discussed in detail. I tend to play it the 1st way with the 3 flush on the bottom and JJ in the mid, especially since your 3-flush contains 2 over cards to the J.

I'm not sure if I am right here though. The 1st way we have a 55% chance of us making the flush for a 4pt royalty with very little chance of a 2nd royalty, maybe we can hit 66-1010 on the top

The 2nd way leads to more chances for royalties. QQ on top is almost double the points as a bottom flush and there's a decent chance we can make a 6pt boat on bottom.

Also foul chances should be considered. Starting with the J's in the middle has a slight chance to foul compared to the JJ on bottom with K in mid and Q on top which is much much harder to foul.

With all this considered I might have just talked myself out of playing the 3-flush on bottom. Thoughts??

P.s. If we are playing fantasy land your insane not to play it with the jj on bottom.

P.p.s. does anyone know the odds on fouling your hand when you start with the JJ in the middle?

Question...

If you foul, is it possible to be scooped by someone also? So you would pay 6 for the foul + 6 for being scooped, 12 total.

Or is it the case that once you foul, your hand is dead and you just have to pay 6 + royalties?

You pay 6 points + their royalties if you foul. Your hand is considered dead and your royalities do not count. If you get scooped you pay 6 points (+) royalties (-) your royalties. Thus is the 1-6 scoring method.

The alternative method is 2-4. 2 points for a 2/3 victory, 4 for a scoop.

Love this game. Where does it run in Vegas?

FYI: the Chinese Open Face Poker facebook page has semi-regular discussion of hands.

Please write one. I will offer myself as first victim and be willing to play it for $20/pt.

I really hope a good programmer can shed some light on what Barry is saying there. I don't know how his nephew did whatever he captured in that screen shot but it seems likely to me (as a programmer) it's for a locally hosted game (pass and play) and not through the Game Center. I hope I am not wrong about that.

If I find some spare time in the next couple months I might just take you up on that.

Disclaimer: I have not used the app and know essentially nothing about iOS APIs. But from previous security problems this app has had, my guess is that it's through the Game Center and the designers really haven't considered any security problems at all. It should be a trivial thing to fix but is probably indicative of many other exploits that haven't been found yet. If this exploit is available on a pass and play game, then some weird design decision has been made. The stuff about the proxy server implies that he's basically sniffing traffic between the client and the server, which doesn't seem like it should happen in a local game.
