I know there are plenty of bots online to practice NLHE and FLHE but I'm wondering if there are any for other games like stud or draw. I read a PokerNews article from a few years ago about a guy teaching AI 2-7TD but no sign that's available online. Anyone know of any?

ive never heard of any, thank god. i assume this is because the mix is too complex

the limit betting structures of these games might seem easier to exploit, but this may not be the case.

the game trees for limit games can actually be much larger than pot/no-limit. thats because unlike limit games pot/no-limit structures limit the number of bets that can be made throughout a hand (because players end up all-in), and this reduces the total number of strategic options in the game. in a limit game you can have multiple volleys of betting on each street between players, wider ranges, and obviously larger trees.

in big-bet games sizing can be used to create indifference, but in a limit structure this is much less of a factor (wider ranges)

overall i think mix games are safe for now, but maybe somebody knows something i dont

I know the guy who did the 2-7 bot and actually played with it/helped him a bit. It was HU only and didn't play very well.

I put together a practice game - you can select and replace your cards 3x, pat and score your hand against 3 random unknown hands (not drawn, just 5 unknown cards) - when I am finished with my current project (short deck calculator) I may go into more detail with these modules. I think an equity calculator/simulator at the very least could be easily built.

In a similar vein, does anyone know which online poker sites allow U.S. players to play? I would be interested in playing microstakes or even play money. I am just hoping to become familiar with the mechanics of different mixed games and also practicing reading the hands/board.

Pokerstars.net for play money has all the games, there are regular MTTs in all the games that are good for practice. Play seems to be better than in the NLHE play money uber-donkaments and is legit worthwhile for a new player to a game to get an intuition for the equities and play some hands. SwC Poker (formerly Seals with Clubs) is bitcoin poker with tons of games but not much action; they do have regular freerolls though where you can practice the various games and cash games you can play for pennies. Americas Cardroom (ACR) has stud and stud8 with decent action (Windows client only).

They don't have badeucey or badacey. Only site I know with those games is SwC. PS has HORSE, all the main Omaha variants, 5c draw hi, NL 2-7sd, 2-7td, badugi. I think the software supports and used to have A-5 td but I don't think that's active any more.

They have some mixed games on pkr kings of course trafic will not be the best. It appears that the only option is to start home game and practice. It would be nice to practice against AI but I don't see it happening any time soon( maybe for the best).
