New Mixed games to Vegas (WSOP time) this year? New Mixed games to Vegas (WSOP time) this year?

Last year was Drawmaha, Drawmaha Hi only, Super variations of Stud games, Double board Omaha, and HiDugi.

Are there any new games I should learn or be aware about when going down for Mixed games this summer?

Not sure if it'll be in the mix for sure but just in case I'd learn dramaha 49. Instead of best 5 card draw hand, you win half pot with the highest point total in your hand. Aces count as 1 pt. Face cards are 0. the Nuts is TTTT9 for 49 total points.

The only one of the games you listed that I think of as having been even somewhat “new” a year ago is hi-dugi, and even that I’d known prior New Mixed games to Vegas (WSOP time) this year?

But, with that said, “Archie’s game,” aka “Archie,” aka “triple draw hi/lo split” is relatively newer than the games you listed, so you might want to check out the rules for that game prior to heading to the Series if you’re not familiar. It’s been quite popular in the Vegas cash games for a couple of years now. It’s played A-5 for lo and with a qualifier for hi, and it’s in the mix in the WSOP Dealer’s Choice events. There are a couple of YouTube vid’s you can watch to learn some of the strategy basics.

The 5-card PLO (aka, “Big-O”) variants sometimes make it into the mix, and they’re also played full ring straight (that is, not in mix rotation but just on their own).

Some places are spreading “Crazy Stud” games—hi and lo variants that just add the pineapple component to the stud games.

Someone was telling me something about some other newer variants that have made their way into the low stakes cash mix at Aria, but I honestly can’t recall the particulars. Some of the low stakes mix games include all kinds of crazy mess, like simultaneous-NLHE/Omaha, where each player is dealt one HE hand and one Omaha hand and the best hands chop from one board. Double-board Omaha limit hi has also been played a couple of times that I’m aware of, and last year (or the year before?) someone posted that one of the meet-up mix games was playing some kind of “pass-the trash” variant, but I don’t remember what that was all about... Someone on here will probably know all the more nutty and obscure variants they’re messing around with.

But basically, most people play all the same games, plus Archie makes into some mixes, too.

GL!

Last year was the first time I'd ever played dramaha and its variants (dramaha A-5, drawmaha 2-7), Archie was pretty much always in the rotation and they play Vegas qualifier (6s or better) as opposed to CAZ qualifier (9s or better). I never once saw Hidugi in my ~ 2 weeks playing 100/200 last summer. Super stud variants were fairly common last year but I've played those in the B mixed game for many years.

Coco, where do you regularly play? I believe a lot of the new games come from the Gardens mixed game and are brought to Vegas by the LA grinders, anybody here play there?

i would assume PL dramaha variants could be popular in cap bigbet mixes. limit-wise those new variants arent super exciting imo.

i personally think dramaha 49 is kinda dumb and doesnt appeal to recs.

I honestly thought he was joking when he described this atrocity of a game Dramaha 49. Not cool pros, not cool

Super stud means you get 4 down cards and get rid of 2 before 4th street. Razzdacey is badacey dealt as a stud game, razzdeucey is badeucey dealt as a stud game

I wandered into Bellagio drunk a few months ago and they were playing badugi drawmaha (5 cards. badugi in hand, omaha on board) in the 80/160 game. No clue if it's played regularly. Another easy to evaluate the quality of your starting hand slow to play split pot game. Unless you play very large or on the east coast, real limit poker is practically dead outside of medium stakes limit holdem imo

I played the 2/4 game pretty much every session it went from August 2017 to May 2018. And some after that but the game kinda died. Then they were playing elsewhere and I played 0 times. I think they play once in a while again at Gardens but I don't really follow LA poker anymore. Don't think they are playing anything now that they weren't 18 months ago. Single draw lowball limit games were/are played in the biggest games in LA often but there's close to 0% chance they ever catch on at medium/small stakes.

They play PL drawmaha 2-7 at Commerce large. Maybe uncapped? idk. I've played it along with a lot of the other bad as limit split pot games in 100bb cap big bet mix online and they are all pretty fun as big bet games imo

Never played it but I don't see how Drawmaha 49 is anything but a bad joke. Seems like 5 card split pot paigow basically.

I’m from the East Coast but I’ve been living in Copenhagen for a while so my regular games are all here and in Sweden now. But prior to coming to Europe and when I’m back in the U.S., I play at Borgata, Parx, MGMNH, Maryland Live, and then just the spots you’d expect when in Las Vegas. I also have some regular spots on the Gulf Coast when I’m in that part of the country. I agree that a lot of the games that make it into the mix in Vegas come via L.A., although not all of them were born there, obviously. GL GL!

Just those games? They don't play HORSE games anymore?

I actually like the unusual games better. Kind of annoying being far from Vegas, as I am pretty sure I could crush that at least at 40/80.

Some new games in some of the mixes:

Drawmaha 49
Drawmaha A-5
Drawmaha hi-dugi
5 card badugi

It's game over trying to get a vanilla game in the Rio mix. One winner games are unpopular with most of the regs; ditto anything without starting hand gotcha potential.

The jury's still out for me on most of the Dramaha variants except 2-7 which is the best one. A-5 is promising but maybe the ace is too much in that game. Slowly coming around on highdugi but not really. 49 is dumb but whatever, at least there is finally a game where eights through tens are good.

I assume they still play more or less standard games in the $2K/$4K game with big bet rounds and Doyle and so on.

Lol I’d pat in 5 card badugi for fun, it’s a strong move repping a big hand

But if you really had the nuts, then you would want to disguise it, so the play doesn't really make sense.
