*** DEALING HANDS ***
Dealt to Hero [7h Kh 2c Jc 5c]
Villain: raises 1200 to 2400
Player 1: folds
Hero: calls 1800
Player 2: folds
Hero: discards 2 cards [Kh Jc]
Dealt to Hero [7h 2c 5c] [8h 3h]
Villain: discards 1 card
Hero: bets 7200
Villain: raises 14374 to 21574 and is all-in
Hero: calls 14374

what I would like help with is understanding the EV of the spot and the combos.

what I did was 14k / 36k so I need to be correct 38.8% the time

I feel villain will ship all 8xxxx and better and would just flat call 9xxxx

working out the combos I think there are 8 hands that beat me and 6 hands that I beat. so combo wise I think its beaten by 132 combos and beating 99 combos.

99/231 gives me 42.9% so its plus EV and right to make the call with me assuming my range is correct?

What I am finding hard to figure out is the combo removal for hands that make flushes because I only have 2 suits in my hand.

really appreciate any feedback and help. not sure my maths is even right.

Just ignore flushes and give villain 3 combinations of all possible 8 or better hands to make it easy (we could make it more complicated but the difference will be negligible)

75432
76432
76532
85432
86432
86532
86543
87432

87532 - tie

87542
87543
87632
87642
87643

So assuming i didn't miss anything 8 losses, 1 tie, 5 wins gives you 5.5/14 = 39.3% and sufficient odds to call it off

I haven't played much of this game but I know an 8 is very premium. You could definitely be leading with pairs that the villain might want to raise bluff out, and I'd think he'd raise some better 9s. Your lead range here might go down to good Ts, so call with the 8s at least.

Is this a standard call pf? Am I a nit for wanting to muck?

I was wondering the same thing. Again haven't played much but I'd probably default to folding pre from any position other than the sb unless it was very multiway with lots of implied odds. Not only are you vulnerable to a bb squeeze by calling pre, but there are probably reverse implied odds here in that it's hard for you to get value when you improve a lot but you pay off behind when you improve a medium amount.

I would fold pre and checkraise all in after draw

This is incorrect, you only need 28.5 % equity to be Neutral EV.
