Defending Ranges in BB HU + 1 other question Defending Ranges in BB HU + 1 other question

Please direct me to another thread if this has been discussed elsewhere but I have been looking for a proper BB defending range v all positions HU. I apologize for the boring thread

To not make the thread too boring I was curious about how you all would go about this hand (Villain is good player):

I open 235JJ CO, BTN 3!, I call.
2-2. xbc (I catch 5T).
2-1. xb....I was wondering what types of hands I should be continuing with here if I do not improve to a 1 card draw to the 8 or better. If I catch a 9 or a T should I ever keep it and D1? I lean toward keeping the 9 and folding T-A and pairs unless I see two other 2s I may call and D2. Thank you.

Ned, in a three bet pot with dead money from the blinds and a bet on every street you require 15% equity to continue.

With a ten D1 draw you typically have around 22-23% equity

Thus you are preserving around .5 of a big bet

However on the river it is expected that you will lose money OOP with ten draw in aggregate however this exact amount is very difficult to quantify. I’ve played around with it and it looks like around .25 of a big bet. So it is a marginal call. It becomes better though if your opponent does not play 1/1 spots well

But just continuing with D1 nine or better is ok

Oh never call and D2 OOP as your opponent can pat really weak

If pair a few cards c/r then snow is your only option and this is profitable if your opponent does not know the GTO solution

We can start with this, when UTG or HJ raises and it folds to us in BB I am not defending with 27 or any two card draw.

While we may have around 38% on average and we are getting 3 to 1 we must also factor in flop bet which makes our odds worse where I believe we need 35% to break even. Then there are further realization issues.

Not calling 278, folding 763

Maybe bottom of range is 753 and 863? Though if there is a raise and a call probably just dump them as most of times two deuces are busy

This is one of the few spots I actually would call and draw 2 OOP. Maybe slightly -EV but worth the tilting factor when your QJ532 beats his 75422.

(If it wasn't obvious I'm talking about Part B here)

PS Ned Scheebly is on Survivor!

Sorry, that was totally off topic and meant for OP. The actor who plays his screen name is a contestant on Survivor right now.

Oh it’s Ok I auditioned for that many years ago. Still holding out hope. I’m a gym owner and poker player now but will just say I do the gym thing since Garrett was last poker player I think and had nut low strategy
