I remember when I used to play there (late 90s and early 00s) that Stud HiLo was played 8 or Better - I used to give up the advantage of the button and choose it because the locals tended to be so bad at it...As to OP's original question, yes, you can be a winner at PLDC; this game was spread for many years at the Vic (usually 5-10) and I was a regular and while not exactly winning millions I did okay. I can think of several players who did very well in this game, Chinese Alan, Jon Cooke, Chufty, Murray Brown (who's now dead) and Jeff Duval to name a few. When this game was originally spread in the 90s the choice was limited to Omaha, O8, SuperStud, Holdem, Irish, Stud and London Lowball (no straights or flushes allowed, nuts is 6432A). When we last got it going (about 6 years ago) we added 2-7TD, Badeucey, Badacey and even Triple Board Omaha. Btw if you chose either variant of Omaha you could also choose 4, 5 or 6 cards.
