Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, this is my first post

I have been playing badugi against generally very poor opponents but still find interesting spots to learn from. Here's one (New to table, no player info):
6 handed in the cutoff, dealt A26Q badugi. UTG opens, I 3 bet, button cold calls, BB cold calls (BB has 4bb total, the rest of us have +20). UTG caps it, everyone calls. BB is all in and draws 3 (standard ) UTG draws 1, action on me. Do we break here or pat and see what happens? I imagine UTG must have a better 3 card if I break, buttons range is unknown. How often will a Q badugi hold vs 3 players drawing?

Where is the line as to what hands we should break and what is the worst badugi we should pat?

for sure break. that badugi is not gonna hold up often enough multiway, and A26 can make some powerful hands that can jam later streets with confidence.

Agreed I would break this one. If you got there with like QT dugi then I would pat and pray. But with a 3 card 6, think break is going to work out better here.

Yes, definitely break. Make the Q a J and I'd still break it, though I'd certainly pat a ten.

A rule of thumb is that if you're drawing one card all the way, you're 50-50 to make a badugi. (You're actually 51% to make it.) So if three opponents are all drawing one, and they all stay to the end, there's about a 7 in 8 chance that one of them will make a badugi. Obviously you beat some badugis with your smooth Q, and at least one of your opponents is drawing multiple cards, so it's probably like 20-25% for your Q to hold up.

Silverware mentioned QT. If you get a pat QT in a loose game with 4 or more players regularly seeing the flop, you should fold it. And conversely, pump your strong 3-cards (including 62A) for all they're worth.

Easy break. You can also potentially improve to a better tri with a 3,4,5 of the same suit as the 6. Not as significant 3 handed, but not nothing either. A nut tri going into the river is a favorite against a D1
