Yes, there was one less diamond available so you made the right choice.

Re: Badugi $0.25/$0.50 - discarding

thanks

there are some other discarding concepts i cant wrap my head around hehe
like:
"Vs Badugis – choose a Badugi draw, vs draws – choose a better TRI"
anyone understands this?

Re: Badugi $0.25/$0.50 - discarding

if your opponent is already pat, he's got a badugi (assuming he's not snowing). this means the only way to beat his badugi is with one of your own.

and this means you just need to draw to a badugi that will beat whatever range of badugis he currently has. so in your one hand before, the guy was pat pre. and the average dealt pre badugi is a J-ish, or between Q and 8. as such, if you're looking to go against him, you want your draw to be something that, when it completes, it will be something like a good J+, or a T, etc.

now, if you're up against a drawing hand (D1, or D2), you can beat your opponent either by making a badugi (which is hard), or just making a better tri. so if you say, have A39r IP and your opponent draws 1 in front of you on first draw, you might consider breaking off the 9 because your A39 is very unlikely to be better than his tri. but if you draw 2 to A3, you can make A23, A34, A35, etc. which probably are more than good enough.

Re: Badugi $0.25/$0.50 - discarding

Yes thank you but what i meant was something else and since i don't quite understand it, it's hard for me to explain :/

I know that if villan has a Badugi I can only beat him with a better Badugi etc , but in this situation, how past discards should affect my next discards?

let's say my predraw hand is: A 3 5 5
i discard 5
now my hand is: A 3 5 2
villan has a Badugi
so apparently i supposed to discard the 2 , not the 5

and i dont know why

I mean is this like a rare spot for tourneys when being shortstacked and allin by the 2nd draw or something?

Re: Badugi $0.25/$0.50 - discarding

hmm i guess i never thought about it but i suppose the idea is that if you toss the 5, you can't catch the 5s to make a 5-badugi. but if you toss the 2c you can catch the 2s and make the 5-badugi, so you basically have an extra out.
