LAG opens from CO, BTN folds
I 3b from SB with 245-8. Folds to CO who calls and we go HU.
1st:
1/2
I now have 245-88
I bet, he calls.
2nd:
1/2
I now have 245J-8
My instinct is to bet and pat here. But probably toss the J if raised. Is this standard? In general I'm never too sure what to make of a badugi this high in this spot.
Thanks

So your badugi is 245J? I'm no expert, and still learning. My gut says pitch the J, as having 5 cards you end up with stronger badugis. And a J isn't the greatest 2-7 low. He is probably has a decent 3 card going, albeit maybe not as good as yours, but seems he can easily catch either way to at least half. And if your 3 card is good, I'd draw for a better low anyway for a possible scoop.
Take this all with a grain a salt, just discussing since I'm new trying to learn. Would like to see what others think.

I would bet and pat after he drew 2. You are 50-50 to improve the J as a TD hand and you don't have many outs to improve the badugi. I wouldn't draw even if he raised me.

Definitely parting if it goes bet/call. If he’s drawing you’re a fav for the deuce half with the J and probably ahead for badugi too. If he’s pat but didn’t raise you’re almost certainly losing the deuce half but probably winning the badugi half. Against a raise I would be tempted to break though.
