6 handed badacey, part of a mix. Villain seemed solid.

Predraw: I complete co iwith (259J)Q (prob too loose), bb 3bets, I call
1st draw: 2/3
Flop: bb bets, I raise with (257)4Q (figuring I need to raise here if I want to d1), bb 3bets, I call
2nd draw: 1/1
Turn: bb bets, I call (247)48
3rd draw: 1/0
River: bb bets, hero?

Other than fold pre, how should I play flop?

Result:
Spoiler:
I called and lost to a 5/5

What's a 5/5? A tri-5 (Badugi) and a pair of 5s for low?

No reason that I can see to raise flop. You are escalating the pot with the worst of it in totality and when he is really strong you will be re-raised.

And the times you make a strong badugi you can wait to pump up the turn anyway.

I wouldn't make up rules for myself in what I presume is an attempt to balance. We can't ignore one of the main overriding principles of poker, escalate the pot with the best of it and minimize losses otherwise.

Calling with a pair of 4 and a mediocre tri on the river seems way over optimistic.

Part of a problem I see for players in the mixed games I'm playing right now is that some guys feel they have to contest EVERY pot. Having position is not an auto-raise just because you have a hand with.. two wheel cards? Come on, man.
Sometimes you're going to play a premium hand and STILL run into nut-nut. It's the way it is, but you can minimize how much you're paying them off. As played, you've practically given yourself no choice but to call down if you keep improving, hoping BB missed his wheel draw and you can chop, or that villain is a drooler. But you said he was solid. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Right?? I didn't say it wasn't, and the action I've been getting lately has me wondering why I've been wasting my life playing stud and Omaha games (gave up on NLHE over 10 years ago). But I'm hoping to help a fellow 2+2er plug what's, IMHO, a big leak in his badacey game*.

* - Unless our hero is actually one of my villains in my game, in which case, by all means, keep hammering away with 25-squadoosh in badacey.
