Game is a bit wild. A couple players really driving the action so game is 3b and 4b frequently pre.

UTG opens. I'll say he's been pretty tight all game.

I have 34789 in MP.

There's one LAG right behind me. Then a real wild guy (drunk i think) behind him. Wild guy has been D3 3-betting and D2-capping multiway for much of the session.

How do we like to play this one?

If opener has a reasonable range and you won't get it HU no matter what you do, folding is fine. You block a lot of good cards and you probably have equity to play it as a D1 if people have been patting early and snowing a lot, so for me it would depend on what hands you've seen show down.

If this is a FR draw game then after a few showdowns you should have an idea what people are doing with their starting hands. If it's a mix then there will likely be some wtf starting hands and if you think that's the case I'd jam it and D1.

Rare that you hear of a wild 4-8 game. I presume this is online?

I'd say I've seen more than few bluffs from these guys. I want to say the wild guy is actually showing up with better hands than he's trying to portray by the end. Some light call-downs for sure. I wouldn't say some real WTF starting hands, iirc. But no shortage of aggression pre, and guys trying to make people break better hands OTT as well.

And yes, it was online.

Thanks for the responses, guys! Definitely helps how I view this spot.

Ok so I assume we are in the HJ, in 6 Max game I don’t consider there to be a MP as there is a decent difference between CO and HJ

While I fold 3478...9 (displayed this way as I’m not keeping a rough nine) without too much deliberation I don’t think a 3 bet and D1 is a huge money loser but without a deuce against the one guy playing well opening from UTG and 4 left to act it is a loser.

8742 would be a 3 bet, not sure what you fine gents think about 8643 as it’s missing the best cards in 27

8643 is smoother than 8742 and I would 3-bet most of the time. Depending on blockers there's still a likelyhood the hand is won with worse than an Eight, and if his draw contains a Seven and you both make Eights, you'll have the better Eight more often and regardless you'll usually have a very good idea where you are on the river.

The axiom that your starting hands should contain a Deuce is much more valid in a D2 starting hand than a D1 Eight draw, where a Deuce is nice but a Three is also good. You unblock villain pairing his deuce, you unblock the best card you could catch for your own hand and because it has no straight draw you still leave yourself three ranks to catch to make a quality hand.

Probably just dump it. You really want to 3-bet then draw to 87? Cold calling is for suckers.
