5h, folded to me, i open 3467 OTB and SB calls, BB folds.

I'm not sure what to make of SB's play so far but I've seen him do some stuff that makes me think he's relatively inexperienced/just picking up the game. i.e. i saw him limp UTG before and d1.

1 - 1

OK so basically I'm thinking if he didn't 3B me pre with a D1, it's a really weak D1 or he doesn't understand how relatively strong a D1 is vs a button open.

He leads, I call

0 - 1 (i brick)

He bets, I call

0 - 1

i brick and fold

My question is based on preflop flat, vs a stranger, what's worst hand you're willing to call OTR here? I'm wondering just how good 87643 is here if i do catch the 8. or say i catch a 9, is that even callable?

thanks in advance

As in any other poker game, you can make some extreme reads and plays. You can't do it readless. You have to see showdowns especially in draw games. He could be calling 2357 because he doesn't know it's a 3bet. He could be calling T986 and not know it's trash.

I'm calling an 8 and 9 and taking note. Nothing else you can do.

i'd consider folding turn. we're kind of counting on implied odds w/ this hand, and it doesn't seem like we have much.

Absolutely if you catch an 8 or a 9 you would be calling.

One thing about this guy is we don’t know how strong is pat hand is, like if he would quick pat something really weak. My standard line in wide D1 ranges is draw and call down up to a jack if I make it on river.

But in this somewhat we don’t know what it is, but I think we can say someone inexperienced is much less likely to be snowing. Given all of that I don’t even mind a fold on the turn. Not a big pot, but a call is OK seems close.

yeah tbh i was actually considering folding the turn. and i agree, i think end on end, i kinda need to look him up with an 8/9 there just to see what's up.

Turn fold UI seems reasonable. And watch how he plays D1s in the future and what he's showing down. Stakes btw?

4-8

yeah i was thinking a fold seemed ok. like a deuce is great, the rest is murky territory. and sometimes even when he has 876 also, when i make mine it's not like i have a deuce at the bottom. are these the reasons why you guys are ok with a fold?

if this was vs a competent reg with this line, is it me or does it feels like a gutshot that hit perfectly but didn't wanna 3b pre?

My natural inclination is to draw 2 the first go round
