This was the final hand of the $2500 mixed triple draw lowball event at WSOP 2017.

Limits 30k/60k, Obst is very short
Predraw: Obst raises on button, Martin calls.
1st draw: Martin draws 3, Obst draws 2
Flop: Martin bet, Obst raise, Martin 3bet, Obst calls.
2nd draw: Martin stands pat, Obst draws 1
Turn: Martin bet, Obst raise, and Martin calls
3rd draw: Martin stands part, Obst stands pat
River: Martin bets, Obst calls all-in for final 30k (1 small bet)
Martin wins with 87543 against Obst's T7642.

Question: I get the entire hand including Obst's turn raise until Obst pats back in position. At this point doesn't he know he's probably beat?

I guess he was a non believer with Martin going three to pat.

I typically believe those spots as it seems like a suspicious way to snow.

Then Martin keeps going and never stops. I would have drawn but of course I have the luxury of knowing what he had. And I was not there and playing.

Obst starts the hand with 5 BB which is an L of 1.5 so he should be committing himself to go all the way when he decides to raise Preflop. I would think he should assume Martin recognizes this as well. So Martin can't snow Obst because Obst can't fold so when Martin starts patting, Obst should know Martin has a legit hand and a T hi is no good. I guess Obst figures he is 2:1 against on improving over the T7 and he wants to have something at showdown, but I think he should know he needs to break to win.

No. This is just wrong. And is bad thinking in a tournament.

Obst could've played the hand in an ABC way and just called and D1 the whole way, instead of putting an expert going 3-pat HU w a big chip lead on some crazy snow.

He would've either saved a couple precious bets (esp in a LIMIT tourney) or maybe have actually won the hand. Patting the T7 makes no sense. You either think he's snowing, in which case anything you draw, you can call down with and expect to win - or you get 2 bets in on the river when you bink.

But given he's played 3 long days to get HU for the bracelet, he deserves some leeway for playing the hand in the highest variance, less than optimal fashion.
