2-7NLSD MTT well off the money. Everyone has around 5500 except 1 super shortie at 200/400/100, 6 handed. HJ calls all-in for 1bb limps, btn limps, I raise to 1722 in the sb, bb calls, btn calls. Draw goes 0/1/2/1. I check, bb jams for just under pot and I have same stack, btn folds, what is Hero's calling range?

I figure preflop raise size was way too small and probably should've just been a jam but assume this is my only 3bet size for the sake of this analysis.

Yeah, just jam it in preflop as you noted

Maybe you haven't gotten a response because I can't think a hand that you would have checked that we would want to call in this spot. But I think I need an eight.

So what did you have?

I folded a 98 and bb wins with 87.

Bare in mind that even if you call and lose, you are very very likely to make the money still. Because the all in player has to draw 2 to beat an 87. (and might not even be live)
So the answer is different than if the shorty folds or if the all in was somehow pat.

You misread him...he said "well off the money", not "one off the money"...
