3-way pot, I have 22689 in SB. BTN folds and I open. BB calls.

I play a pretty standard tag style. BB is pretty laggy. Seen him get out of line in other games but in 27 I don't have notes on him.

1st draw:
1/3
I have 98762.

mmmm having seen 99 and 22 I'm unsure of how to best play this.

instinctively i wanna pat because it's not like improving to an 8 makes me beat many other hands as i've seen two 9s. i'm not so sure having the extra 2 makes a diff since he drew 3, and he likely has his own i believe.

thoughts? thanks

I would draw 2 to the 862 to start but if I catch 98762 then I'd pat.

I would pat b/3bet on flop against most players, including this one. Bet turn and check river is prob standard w a weak 1 cd draw underneath. BB is in the spot he will defend the lightest. The other options would be to draw to 8762 or 762. I think we’ve got enough of a hand and blockers that we have some fold equity in such a small pot and our hand should hold up most of the time, but this line will probably cause the tougher decisions on later streets than if we drew

gosh, i was only thinking about betting flop. i wouldn't have thought about bet/3-betting, though. what is our rationale for the 3b there? in my games only a small part of the population is raising CB's and drawing 1 here in this spot, so 3-betting puts me up against lots of pat hands (few of which i'm beating, right?)

1) people raise flop here w a D1 way too often in my experience.
2) what would you do facing a raise?

good question and glad you asked so i can think it through.

with this particular hand i'm most likely bet/calling and drawing 1. i'd attribute it to a distinct discomfort level patting a 98762 OTF and playing it OOP. of course then i'd immediately wonder what kinds of hands i'm drawing to beat with an 8762 anyway.

additionally i'd probably be more inclined to take the line against really aggressive opponents who i know are often D1 raising in these spots. but that's something i'm still learning how to properly execute as well.

thanks for the replies btw, guys.
