hmm, bit of a tough one

average D1 into badugi is around an 8 or so. so based off that, on average it's ahead of this hand.

that said it's a hand you wanna consider where you're at in your own range. out of all the pats pre you would play this way, how high does A679 fall into that range? i think i'd have a J-dugi here at worst, and A679 is considerably better than that. and since i'm not at the bottom of my range i'd be reluctant to fold.

that said this is 8-handed badugi, so i'm sure my own range construction is distorted. i think i just call down.

Hand is way too high up in a range to fold and actually beats tens. Clear calldown.

curious: does this game being 8-handed have much influence in any decisions we're making?

basically only if we're actually playing a drawing hand, i'm thinking?

For the most part, UTG and UTG+1 just have to be tighter than UTG in a 6max game and the rest of the positions can be treated as they would in 6max. There's obviously a slight selection bias in folded cards altering the remaining, but nowhere as near as much of one as in, say, 2-7 or even O8.

Is it accurate to say that villain will have very few snows here? Utg 8 handed range should be quite strong and seems like a waste to turn a strong 3 card into a snow.

I think it does come down to how much worse for value villain is playing this way. I do think villain can have smooth Ts and maybe even some Js, although the latter may check river. I think I'm calling down any 9 here though based on instinct (then again my badugi instincts are often wrong)

villain probably won't have a lot of snows.

but he's gonna have T/J-dugis which he believes will be ahead of hero's range (when he really has a 9), which is the most important factor here
