John Cena is a fantastic professional wrestler. If anything he should have been WWE champion for more than 1,191 days over the past 10 years. The people who boo him relentlessly are hipsters who probably don't like Michael Jackson or the Beatles.

Also, Hogan was great on the mic (as a face, not including his recent stuff).

Cena beating Bray at Wrestlemania was 100% the correct decision.

The top 2 faces are DBryan and Cena. Bray beat Bryan clean at Royal Rumble. If he beat Cena at Wrestlemania it would mean he beat the top 2 faces at major PPV's less than a year after his debut.

We complain about people getting shoved down our throat without the proper build up yet people were pissed that Bray lost to Cena.

I mean this is obviously true, and the reactions after every Cena PPV win on this board are a goddamn joke and basically a parody of the very concept of smarkdom. WWE basically books every Cena PPV result perfectly, with the only exception being that sometimes the way they have the result take place is terrible (Cena over Miz in essentially a handicap match when it should have just been a hard-fought clean win, Cena having his foot on the rope in the loss to Punk when it should have been a clean loss both come to mind).

I'm with you until the last sentence. The booing is fine; fans SHOULD express it when they hate someone's gimmick or character, or else said gimmick or character will never change. Cena's isn't going to change anyway, but the fans should still let their voice be heard about that stuff because they can force things like gimmick changes/face turns/heel turns in most instances.

Demolition is a weird case; I'm just sort of amazed that a tag team that is relatively limited in the ring and is mostly a couple of brawlers with the same sort of move set that smarks usually hate is just absolutely 100% universally revered among smarks worldwide. Like I'm not arguing with it, because I like them too, but it just always surprises me that they get this absolute free pass from everyone else for being average at best in the ring.

In conclusion, Rick Derringer is clearly one of the great musicians in all of history, because without their awesome theme song this effect described above very obviously wouldn't exist.

Incidentally, I root against Cena in almost every match I watch him in, just as a deeply-embedded reaction against the annoying character he plays, so I can't possibly speak against others rooting against him too. It's the "OMG that's such terrible booking" reactions that I'm calling a joke.

Well yeah this is true. I guess I should have written "those who dislike him" rather than "those who boo him".

(Although obviously people can like who they want. I was just being dramatic).

Oh here's one: I absolutely loved Brutus Beefcake growing up. As objectively bad workers go, he's one of my favorite ever without question. That actually gives me a good idea for a post in the other thread...

I preferred watching Rock interviews over him in the ring.

I thought Curt Hennig's Rap Is Crap rhyme enjoyable.

It took Paul Heyman four weeks for him to be a better color guy than Jerry Lawler.

I began to believe in Daniel Bryan after teaming with Kane.

Nobody shilled merchandise better together than HHH and Shawn Michaels.

There are at least 4 wrestlers in NXT that are ready to be breakout stars.

Jeremy Borash is an underappreciated talent in TNA.

We really need a second major promotion to make the WWE product excellent again.

Goldberg had a great entrance in WCW.

I am glad that managers are being used again in WWE. Zeb Colter and Paul Heyman are very entertaining and add personality to the show.

I mean aside from not knowing who Jeremy Borash is (so perhaps I agree with that too), I don't see anything problematic in this entire list.

john cena over acts, and does so terribly, making him unwatchable as well as unlikable.

bray wyatt sucks in the ring. (very small two match sample size)

divas wrestling is mostly unwatchable.

Roman Reigns. I don't get the fuss. Everyone thinks he's gonna be a stud, but he might just get exposed as a guy with a few big spots and nothing else when he goes on his own.

I still popped for the NAO during their last run. Always liked Road Dogg's mic and ring work.

Think HHH takes too much flak. Sure he buries guys occasionally, but he's always been one of the more entertaining guys, even today. Should also get credit for negotiating and bringing guys like Warrior and Bruno back and I would argue he has a hell of a lot to do with the current youth infusion over the last few months.

Sometimes I like watching the big guys brawl (Kane, Nash, Taker, Show, Henry) each other just for the spectacle as much as a good technical match.

I was never a Hogan fan and always rooted for the heels against him. Not that I rooted for heels in general as a kid, just against him. Figured there had to be a reason guys kept turning on him (Savage, Orndorff, Andre). He must be a dick.

God, I feel better now.

Actually HHH seems to be one of the favourites around here these days.

(I still hate him, for those keeping score).

The Money in the Bank concept is tired and needs to end.

And to run with this a little, despite the "you can't wrestle" chants being a staple of his career, John Cena's promos are far more detrimental to his popularity than his ring work.

It's probably unpopular for me to think that someone can't "look like a lesbo".

Not unpopular.

My unpopular opinions:

Cena is likeable as a character again.

Light-hearted segments in serious feuds are okay.

I've said this many times in other threads but I definitely agree with this. I think WWE realized it to after his stinker with Wyatt. I do think he can get to where they want but it's going to take two years, minimum. He has a lot to improve on.

Goldberg is the worst thing to happen to professional wrestling and the least deserving of success.

Scott Hall was the best member of the NWO and the best wrestler to never hold a world championship.

The Bray Wyatt gimmick is hit or miss but usually comes off looking pretty silly.

CM Punk is a sloppy in ring performer.

HBK looked weak throughout most of his second run.

Even though I'm a huge fan, most of Daniel Bryan's promos are average at best.

I liked Carlito's gimmick.

Seth Rollins is the most talented member of the Shield.

Ernest Miller was awesome.

The LWO was awesome.

Rey Mysterio in WCW > Rey Mysterio in WWE.

Not sure if this is unpopular but Owen Hart was better than Bret at everything he did.

ECW and hardcore wrestling was mostly garbage.

Christian is terrible unless he is in skits with Jericho or Edge.

Apart from Owen's death, Kurt Angle signing with TNA is the greatest tragedy in wrestling.

WCW vs NWO Revenge > WWF Attitude. Day of Reckoning 2 is the best wrestling video game of all time.

That's off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more.

Personally, I preferred Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, and Booker T in WCW over WWE.

In regards to Rey, the WCW ring was much more well suited to the talents of a high flier (thus the great emphasis on the cruiserweight division). The WCW ropes were steel cables rather than actual ropes and they allowed the wrestlers to do all sorts of crazy acrobatics off them. Also, he was much skinnier in WCW and they didn't let him talk that much.
