Pretty sure it's all about whether or not they think the retired person might return to the ring. Edge clearly can't.

Yeah HBK went straight into the HOF the year after his last match.. King was in the HOF like 4 or 5 years ago and still occasionally wrestles.

Lanny Poffo should be in the Hall of Fame of getting contracts. He got a 4+ year guranteed deal with WCW, and WCW bought the rights to the name/gimmick Gorgeous George to use on him. They then never actually booked him.
