Take begs Paul for a match at 28 and now Dave begs Paul for a match at 35. The ego. This is an awful segment.

It's really kind of sad.
Now?

Was this post made 15 years ago and is just now showing up?

Kurt. Glad he's hanging it up. Guy looks so pained in the ring while wrestling.

+1

We were all thrust into a neverending pool of darkness when Val Venis won the IC Title. Since then, we have occasional instances of wrestlers elevating these belts (Cena with the US Open Challenge, Miz with a strong heel run, even ****ing Zack Ryder getting people invested), but most midcard champs are just variants of Val Venis and have been for quite a while.

In all honesty, this post could have been made over a decade ago too. But now he looks pained just standing there too. Could have had one of the greatest careers of all time if he hadn't just disappeared 13 years ago and spent so many years in hiding, not wrestling.

Does it count as ruining a legacy if no one sees it?

That was from a clip that played during this RAW commercial on my stream. Can you imagine a bigger contrast in viewpoints on wrestling than these two guys?

Concussion angle for Reigns it is then.

Maybe next week we'll see him do his corner routine prior to the spear and he'll pass out midspear like HBK in 95...can't wait!

Well, that's one way to build up a heel. I applaud them for this. Too bad for Drew though as it just leads to losing at WM. Guy should be champion sometime before WM 36.

Inb4 next week he's part of a 6 man tag match.

He'll be on the pre show on whatever the PPV after wrestlemania is. Meanwhile Corbin will be around being useless forever.

I thought the Batista/Triple H promo was heinous. Batista came off like a total baby after it looked like they were building him up to be a more despicable and manipulative sociopathic character. Pretty disappointed in his performance too for a guy who is having success in Hollywood.

I liked Ronda's heel promo and it was a good step towards building this triple threat in a more straight-forward manner.

Ya Ronda absolutely crushed it and Batista was awful. Drew was great too, really sucks that it's impossible for him to beat Roman at WM.

This AJ/Orton promo is surprisingly good. Name drops and references include Dixie Carter, DDP and NWO so far.

That's how she got over even though they never really pushed her until a few months ago. So it's just unreal that her being on the mic wasn't how they chose to build this match, and the only reason I can think of for why they didn't do it is because she so thoroughly outclasses Charlotte/Ronda in that area and they didn't want the build to be lopsided.

Charlotte got the better of Becky tonight and is way better on the mic in general, idk what SR is talkin about. Becky's mic work is fine, there's still a lot of room for improvement. She doesn't seem to know her identity on the mic, sometimes she plays the underdog card, sometimes she's the arrogant "man", she's kinda all over the place.

I couldn't disagree more obv, but it is a subjective thing. I think Charlotte is a great heel in terms of the way she carries herself and wrestles, but I've never felt like her promos were great. She just talks slowly and loudly.

Becky has a natural cadence and believability on the mic that separates her. She really connects with the crowd which is the hardest thing to do in wrestling, and it's how she's been perma-over despite a lot of questionable booking. The "inconsistency" you describe in Becky is what makes her character unique and special in the context of modern WWE. (I also wouldn't describe her as "arrogant" because most of what she says is just confidence that reflects the truth.)

FWIW, I also think the degree of difficulty on a babyface promo vs. a heel promo in current WWE is like 1000x higher, which reflects my feelings on this a bit.

Heard from a reliable source that KO is 75% healthy re: his knee. Hopefully he can fully heal and not re-injure himself.

I can understand the idea that Becky doesn't have full conviction in her character sometimes. It's probably not even her fault because she never really had time to develop the heal persona before they turned her back. So now she has to balance this cool anti-hero type, but they're probably also saddling her with being likable, fan/kid friendly and sympathetic too.

She probably doesn't understand what they want her to be at this point. Whenever they turn anyone face, they take away whatever rebellious values the person had that made the fans cheer them in the first place.

So now, they obviously love her "The Man" thing because it sells t-shirts. Keep going out there and telling everyone you're the man...but what else? Her stuff on Twitter seems a bit better than her TV mic work recently. I wonder why.

Totally get why he'd try to rush back for Mania though. Even though now he may not even find himself on the main show.

Even more than most WWE people, she is way better in the unscripted backstage promos. That was actually a lot of what made me a fan compared to what was on TV. I'm sure it helps that they don't have to be 99% exposition like her last one was.

I thought this one she cut on Ronda before she got punched by Nia was perfect at being sympathetic and confident, and it's the kind of thing that's been missing in the Mania build.

think a becky vs ronda 1on1 and charlotte vs asuka rematch since asuka seems not to have a worthy opponent or a good story would have been the better option
