Just tuned in. "Dustin Rhodes" looks old as ****.

Unless I missed something they have promoted Asuka more than they have paid tribute to the brain. No surprise since you know Paul Bearer and the undertaker got crap treatment in their last few years and that's how employer's treat their employees nowaday's.

I know they had the opening thing and mentioned him once but have like not seen anything since. Unless the family requested that maybe.

Did Cole say Bobby Heenan had a brother named Robert or did I not hear him right

That's what he said. edit: this makes sense since Bobby's real name is Raymond.

and with that, I can turn RAW off. Show sucks.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure Heenan's real first name is Ray

Didn't know that. Makes sense then.

My hotel cable went out. Any Heenan tribute worth anything?

They had a video tribute somewhere between 10:18 and 10:25 that was 3-5 minutes long.

Tribute was fine but wasn't particularly compelling by WWE video package standards.

They could and should have done so much better.

They'll never learn that hotshotting and putting a title on someone with zero gimmick and personality will never get someone over. Hope Miz buries Jason Jordan at NM.

Yeah, the only possible payoff from the Jordan angle (pun intended) is for him to turn heel on Angle (he faked the paternity test to win a title). But he can't do that against Miz because Miz is too much of a heel.

The Heenan tribute seemed to miss a lot of his career (since WWE now owns WCW, it wouldn't have hurt to feature some of his WCW announcing career). Understandable, I guess, from the sheer amount of footage that he's in. But it could have been a lot better. Surprise Hogan appearance (in the video), though.

Haha, BRAUN bulldozing Enzo was awesome, GOAT crushing WOAT.

I don't understand what they are doing with Goldust. Spend weeks showing vignettes of awesome classic heel Goldust, he continually teases big things (presumably a final big feud/match to end his career) but then more weeks go by and he disappears. Now all of it is just seemingly forgotten as he cuts a weird retiring-like face promo as "Dustin Rhodes" which paid off in a 5 minute squash loss to gigantic loser Bray Wyatt.

I know WWE doesn't give a **** about inconsistent booking but come on.

Hey fellas, I wanted to share the essay I wrote reflecting on the life and career of Bobby Heenan that posted in The Spectacle of Excess today. Please let me know what you think:

Nice article. Certainly enjoyed reading. Maybe the one "huh?" is that paragraph that lauded his work at Bash at the Beach '96 and sort of sidestepped the elephant in the room ("WHOSE SIDE IS HE ON?!")...his declaration after was great, but it sort of got stepped on with his call as Hulk marched to the ring.

idk, now that we're 21 years later and knowing that the announcers didn't know who the third guy was, I love that in such a serious moment Heenan kept character and pointed out that Hogan was a snake and for once, ended up being right.

I hate hate hate hate that line. It nearly ruins the moment. Huge thumbs down.

Yeah, I get that there's a rational defense to be made of that call from the standpoint of Bobby's character, but even as rabidly pro-Heenan as I am in general, I'll never be happy that he said it.

I think that's totally fair in retrospect thinking Heenan spoiled the reveal. I nevertheless think it remains one of the great calls in wrestling history.

BTW, I'm sincerely glad you enjoyed the piece. **WWE Raw/Smackdown Viewing Thread**

In the next week, I'll be posting an interview with my friend, WWN Ambassador and head booker for EVOLVE, Trevin Adams.

You think the Heenan bash at the beach spoiler line is "one of the greatest calls in wrestling history?"

That's super weird. Even though he's the GOAT, it's 100% terrible.

I can see being a contrarian and saying it's not actually that bad; but to call it a GOAT line is nuts.
