Because I said I was looking forward to the guest referee, and therefore WWE had to make it literally the least exciting choice possible.

Roode had a match, Shelton just showed up in a backstage promo with a theoretical first match next week.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was a face for one night only since he was obviously going to get a favorable reaction with that crowd on his debut.

Shelton and Gable has me excited. A pretty enjoyable show except for KO asking Sami to referee which made no sense.

Looks like they might re-do the American Alpha NXT story with Gable trying to win over Shelton this time instead of Jordan. If they are then I'm all for it.

Apparently beach balls were banned from Smackdown last night (along with other "pool-related paraphernalia"?)

If you feel the need to bring a beach ball to a WWE event, why are you even going in the first place?

When raw went off air Cena got on mic and basically sides with fans, saying screw the security guards he fans paid money to get in here and should be able to have fun and do what they want etc etc

I was really surprised Cena said it to be honest. I normally hate fans trying to get themselves over but I think the beachball thing is disrespectful in general to the performers. If you wanna do it during Summer Rae Vs Cameron I get it but not during the awesome matches where it became an issue last few days

WWE usually likes to play this stuff up so I'm curious to see wheat direction they ultimately take. Hopefully they ban it but can totally see Cole pumping "crazy beachball fun" on the mic and stuff too

I went to a concert, band was having an off night, and the fans started throwing tomatoes at them. I thought, "Who would throw a tomato at a band, man? That's bad." But then I thought, "Who would bring a tomato to a show? That's even worse."

Cena is the rare performer who legitimately enjoys the crowds that give him a ton of static as a babyface. Most of the rest range from "put up a front, swallow it and deal with it" to "openly react negatively to the crowd."

I agree with your take, but I can kind of puzzle out Cena's reaction since he's totally unflappable no matter what the crowd does.

That has to be a thing specific to that band, right? Kind of like the people who used to go to midnight shows of Rocky Horror and bringing toast and other things.

Strangely, I kind of assumed that's who it was from without having any actual knowledge.

Neat.

I remember that it used to be a thing to throw water bottles at Billy Corgan. Have no idea why, but in the 90s, every time I read a Smashing Pumpkins concert review, it seems that someone threw a bottle at Corgan.

Last edited by gusmahler; 08-23-2017 at 06:10 PM. Reason: Might not have been a water bottle, but there was definitely something thrown at him fairly often

The easiest way for the WWE to turn the crowd against something is to relentlessly jam it down their throat

The motives are clear

He's been part of Titus's stable pretty recently, just within the past month at least.

Earliest commercial I can remember on Raw in years. Wondering if they're going to do single entrances for everyone or just pile in a bunch of jobbers during the break.

Apparently there are no disqualifications in a battle royal. As Cole and crew have said 35,428 times in the past 8 minutes.

Which kind of makes everyone in the ring kind of an idiot.
