Isn't Rollins the reason Balor was out for like a year?

Just want to say that I really dislike that he has the same music when he's Finn and when he's Demon. He also uses the same mannerisms. It's really stupid. Change the music and ffs change the mannerisms. It's really really stupid.

Which is why I wouldn't be surprised if Balor turns on Seth tonight.

Balor's offense really isn't that different than Shane's.

Reading this thread I thought I was gonna hate Balor tonight. I mean boring midgets with no character and good work rate get overrated by smarks all the time (hi Sami Zayn). But I thought Balor crushed it tonight and I thought it was very smart to have Rollins and him sort of bury the hatchet as a way to get Rollins even more over. Obviously he has to develop his character but his in ring work was far from boring imo, if he keeps it up they'll now have two very believable faces in the main event picture. Huge since Reigns is effectively a heel now.

That piece of commentary by Graves was brutal btw. Made even worse since he's supposed to be the "heel commentator". Even if what he's saying is true, it's not your ****ing job to defend babyfaces, you're supposed to irrationally attack them dickhead

Sami > Finn It's easy to hide flaws in tag matches. Not to mention, without doing a promo or doing anything with character work.

I just want to say, I'm fully a Neville mark after tonight. His promo was good. He shut down the "what" chants before they could start. The first time they tried to "what" him, he just kept talking and they didn't try it again. The jumping down from the top rope to do a submission was just great heel work. The great matches at Rumble, FL, and WM. As I said earlier, I Neville.

Sami another one I'll never get. Not believable at all and he has no character. What's to like?

Not believable is a truly ironic thing to say after you just said you say that you enjoyed Finn (6'1" 210 vs 5'11" 190). If you don't get or enjoy Sami, that's fine but to say Finn > Sami based on one 10-15 minute tag match is ridiculous.

I'm not on the Finn hate train at all, either since I really don't watch much and he's had like 3 matches on the main roster. Finn can get better and more engaging. It's just unlikely because face WWE character.

Finn isn't believable either (if you read my post I said I expected to dislike him given his rep/stature)- and if they give in to smarks and have him fight Brock that would definitely be upsetting- but he at least has a character afaik and I found him more enjoyable in the ring than Sami. Also Finn is at least in shape and athletic, Sami is weak and has a dad bod and no character lol.

Anyway, the point of my post wasn't to say he's a sure thing just that I was surprised by how much I liked him tonight.

fwiw I think most people's problem with Finn is that he doesn't have a character beyond putting face paint on for important matches. The other is that 90% of his offense consists of kicks and stomps when he's 190 pounds.

I think Sami's pretty good because he does have a character. It's a character that lets him get screen time with upper card guys and a character that if they decide to pull the trigger on giving him a win, he's instantly credible and matched up against a bunch of guys in the midcard/uppercard. He's an underdog. He doesn't quit. He has a good moveset. He has good mic skills. He's a great face in a world of awful faces.

To me, someone who doesn't have a character and is only good work rate wise is Apollo Crews. He doesn't yet have something that people want to see.

Fair enough. Maybe Zayn is capable of more, I just haven't seen it in WWE.

Have you watched his NXT match with Nakamura?

Nope. WWE is it for me. I really just see it as a tv show with some really cool fight sequences. Elite storylines and cool spots or impressive feats of athleticism are a lot more exciting to me than a good technical wrestling match. I can appreciate it, and I def think you need to mix it in to enhance the reality of the entertainment, but entire matches of it would bore me. In fact, pretty much any random match in and of itself would be boring to me, the most exciting one's are feuds that are built correctly when you feel invested in the storyline.

I'm not saying my way is the optimal or correct way to view it just explaining my POV and why I may have a different perspective than most around here.

edit: Would love to watch though anyway, link?

I'm pretty much with you on story (I also think people overvalue workrate vs. character), but I think Sami does a great job of telling a story in the ring and might be the best guy in the company at making his opponents look good.

The Nakamura match is on the Network at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Not sure if there's a good youtube link or anything.

I'm confused. Are we still talking about the WWE?

Seriously though, a lot of indie guys are overrated but Sami is not one of them. I mean has there been a better match in the WWE since the Nakamura one?

The only thing that comes to mind is DIY/Revival in Toronto last November. I haven't yet seen that match....I really need to.

I don't think WWE is good now lol. I'm just saying that's my idea of what makes wrestling good.
