He's in the wins and losses don't matter bin with everyone else who is full time and not a top 2 face.

Hey man, the last time AJ lost a bunch of matches leading up to a loss at a major PPV he immediately got a title shot. AJ's got em' right where he wants em'

also not fair we have had what 10 hours of really good programming kinda burnt out by it tbh.

SD is going to have that problem a lot I think around PPV weeks

It was also hurt by the fact that the first 7 hours of that time were fantastic and Smackdown was a tire fire.

I guess to me its like
- you have this tagline about smackdown being about the wrestling/merit etc
- you have a guy that's been wallowing in the shuffle for a couple years because the powers that be didn't want to push him in case he got hurt again once he got hurt the last time they pushed him
- that guy has a lot of in ring talent and people have been super hot on him in the past
- you have that guy pick up the win for the #1 contender spot to highlight its about ability and not backstage politics anymore

then you also add in things such as the roster is very thin and you need to make new top level talent, he's been one in the past and you trust him more than one of the newer guys, and it frees up the two main stars of the show to continue feuding.

i understand the frustration of hotshotting where a guy that hasnt really even been on ppvs is suddenly getting a title shot in the 2nd biggest show of the year. I get that it seems like something that would be in the middle of the card 3 months ago if they fought . i just dont mind it given other options + think it has high reward if it pans out well

then again, we'll know very quickly where they think of smackdown once summerslam rolls around. if the title match curtain jerks like it did during the last split you can stick a fork in it

I won't be surprised if that match does curtain jerk

but yeah overall the last 3 nights had an 8ish ppv, a 9ish raw, and a 3-4ish smackdown. ill take that.

The thing is, you put Styles or Cena over here, it shouldn't actually stop their feud. Obviously they don't wrestle that particular night, but top stars should have heat going on several fronts.

Also, specific to Styles-Cena, for the love of God we don't want that to continue since we know what the future holds for poor AJ.

And feuds should almost never make you completely forget about the championships.

Random thoughts after watching smackdown:

1. JBL is so ****ing terrible, jesus christ
2. Was Otungas voice always that high pitched? It sounded weird as hell to me
3. Lol Barrin Corbin? guys trash
4. Lol divas division
5. Why cant Shane hold his damn wrist straight?
6. Dar0 on fire itt
7. Ziggler? dafuq? What a weak ass roster
8. Listening to SD try to say theyre the A show is going to be so painful
9. Raw actually hooked me in to watching next week. SD Im back to done with

tl;dr warning

glad I didn't watch raw/sd as I think they did mostly everything wrong

the summerslam AIDS are the title matches are gonna be the guy who kept losing to baron corbin when he didn't cheat vs dean ambrose and the guy they just called up literally nobody but nerds know vs rollins for SUMMERSLAM? That's just awful. Like if a challenger wins maybe I'll finally stop paying attention to this crap again in the background/and never again watch even the big PPV's. Also it doesn't feel like either earned the shot, they just won some dumb matches to get there in a night. I'd MUCH rather have seen reigns rollins HU. I get it for throwaway PPV's but come on. Only heel option for dean was the miz in terms of ANY kind of meaningful feud, but they instead buried him, naturally.

I think wwe should mostly save babyfaces first title reigns for PPV moments, ie summerslam to get them massively over/make the moment bigger/bigger pop. Instead it was some throwaway raw. Now that match is still predictable with 2% of the giving a ****.

brock vs orton is literally the only compelling match on the entire card so far. Maybe club beating new day might be alright I guess. I hope new day doesn't retain, it's past time.

and everyone's favorite lol cena wins that I'm sure nobody here will complain about at all.

god this card sucks. gonna be ridic when sd acts like the A show and dean vs ziggler is gonna be like the 2nd match on the ppv. for the WWE title. lol

Raw was fantastic, Balor sucks but he has a great look and most importantly he's NEW.

Ziggler/Ambrose is super lol is a main event which is why I have a hard time seeing it as anything other than a curtain jerker.

I'm the biggest Reigns defender on these boards and even I think he needs to get away from the title picture and rebuild his image, I see no problem trying to build a new star while keeping your workhorses open.

the smackdown announcing team is atrocious. JBL is an embarrassment and I don't know why Mauro is loved on these boards. His voice puts me to sleep and as someone said earlier when he makes random pop culture references its very awkward and cringey.

My biggest peeve is the constant need to give us these callbacks/cliche lines every ****ing time a move is done. Michael Cole started it, and Mauro has followed suit. "Paying homage to their uncle, Umaga" every time that running ass move is done by an Uso. You don't need to tell me that every ****ing time!

or JBL screaming VIVA LA RAZA any time someone does a frog splash. its just obnoxious and stupid.

or JBL shouting "BALL GAME" every time someone pulls off a big move or a finisher (many times, it is not the ball game!)

yeah.....I really hate JBL

Not since [time period] when [random pseudo famous person] did [something no one cares about] have we seen such a great champion

x1000000

-JBL

Also Graves seems to be an improvement but do we seriously still need the heel commentator going out of his way to nonsensically agree with something a heel is doing?

JBL is just terrible on commentary, always has been. Graves is great and will hopefully only get better.

I guess commentary is subjective. I've never enjoyed him on commentary, he's on the same level as Booker T for me.

Heard SD was terrible but I'm still curious so going to watch it. Lol @ Ziggler though. If you want to quickly establish the B show then have Ziggler challenge for the title. Both SS title matches seem really weird to me. People are going to bust a nut over Balor's tired entrance and I'm going to be sitting there like Lt Dan.

The love for Mauro comes from his NJPW commentary on AXS which was fantastic but just like WWE does to your favourite wrestlers, they made him lame.

JBL was a great heel commentator when he started. He was actually a lot like Graves was on Raw with calls that added to kayfabe rather than detract. He left and came back as a mouthpiece for Vince and has been unbearable ever since.

The announcing revolution ignited by Gordon Solie which led so many wrestling announcers to treat wrestling as an important sportslike drama is almost completely reversed. It is back to where it was when Vince was a youth, with the announcers generally treating it like a giant chuckle **** fest.
