This was much easier to pick than survivor series. Pretty confident in my pick and I can't see how Ryback will lose his first singles ppv match since returning, especially to kane

Well ****. They don't even announce the Rumble field in advance most of the time. But okay.

I'd be willing to alter that if both of you wanted to (and since this is the first running of this some rules/exceptions/adjustments are certain to be needed). My feeling is that RR difficulty is balanced out by the simplicity Survivor Series gives you with soooo many people getting put into matches and winning at once, but the fact that the entrants aren't announced does change that feeling some.

Well if the rules stand then every year for the Rumble people will have to do one of the following:

a. pick the rumble winner
b. pick a male superstar in a singles/tag match and hope he doesn't appear in the rumble as a surprise entrant
c. pick a diva

you had the rule there in advance so i think it's fair to leave it as stands for this year, but maybe in a future contest if someone comes in to the rumble as a "surprise" entrant then it shouldn't count against you. "Surprise" entrant being defined as someone who is not listed on the Wikipedia card. The timing for the wikipedia card may be tough though, because some people will probably be announced for the rumble on the preshow. That narrow window makes it pretty difficult.

I had not bumped this yet because I was still hoping to see a participant list spoiled before I made a ruling (and since it was just two people that are active in the forum I figured I had the leeway to wait a couple days). The good news is that apparently it was spoiled partially today.

My thinking was that if it appeared that there wasn't going to be a ton of overlap between the card and the rumble (last year not one person that was on the card earlier was in the rumble for instance) I was going to keep the rule as is. This would result in just a liiitle bit of a wrinkle in decisions and a mild little sweat at the end of the day hoping your guy doesn't come out.

However, it has been revealed that at least four members of the card are also confirmed for the rumble, another match has 3 people that can realistically be entered into the rumble if they lose the title match, and a third match has a potential for them all to make it out there as well.

The rule of "you have them for the whole card" was an attempt at giving a bit of a wrinkle for champions vs MitB as well as situations where people wrestled more than one match (see: bryan at WM30 when this started). The rule was NOT intended to be a GOTCHA HHAHA YOUR GUY ENTERED THE RUMBLE AND OBV ISNT MAIN EVENTING MANIA trip up.

With those explanations listed, the following rule has been put into place:

For purposes of rule #4 (You have a wrestler for the entirety of the PPV. If they wrestle more than one match, they must win them all to advance), the ROYAL RUMBLE match - and ONLY the ROYAL RUMBLE match - will not count against you. The rule remains in effect for cash ins at the Royal Rumble PPV and any other secondary matches added.


This means you can select a wrestler on the card that wins a match, have him or her enter the Rumble and lose, and still advance to the next PPV.


Please note: You may still select a wrestler that is NOT on the undercard and advance if they win the Royal Rumble match. If they do not win the match, you will be eliminated still. If you select a wrestler that has a non-Rumble match and they lose that match and then win the Rumble itself, you will be eliminated.


I hope that is both clear and fair to all parties involved. I will update the thread with the spreadsheet and the cards momentarily.

The next PPV in the contest (Royal Rumble) is this weekend. The deadline is the start of the PPV Sunday (not preshow).
