Extreme Rules WWE Championship Match: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kane

These two were such good friends.

But Stephanie McMahon challenged Kane's manhood or something, so they're not anymore.

No actual idea what an "extreme rules" match is. Sounds like the time back in 1993 that The Undertaker was in a "Rest in Peace" match, and the match came and went without anyone knowing what that meant.

Six-Man Tag: Evolution vs. The Shield

All three members of Evolution had designs on Daniel Bryan's WWE Title the night after WrestleMania, but just as HHH was going to start a title shot against a beaten-down Bryan, we had an interruption.

They thwarted Evolution's hopes.

The next week, Evolution struck back.

Seems only natural the two sides should face each other in an actual match, so here we are.

Cage Match: John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt

John Cena beat Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, but Wyatt has vowed to continue in his quest to unleash the demon within Cena. Fans have been singing along with Bray's rendition of "He's Got The Whole World in His Hands," because sing-along is ****ing catnip to wrestling crowds and they'll sing along with literally anything, but Bray is of course referring to this as the crowd turning on Cena.

He struck the ultimate blow last Monday night when he led a whole children's choir to the ring, singing along with him. It was awesome.

Intercontinental Title: Big E (c) vs. Bad News Barrett

Bad News Barrett ran through some competition to win the honor of #1 contender to the Intercontinental Title. He appears to be in the middle of a big push.

Big E has been shown watching Barrett's push from a monitor in the back, so that's his part in the build to this match. It would be bizarre if this wasn't a title change.

Triple Threat Elimination Match: Cesaro vs. RVD vs. Jack Swagger

Cesaro and Swagger broke up a month ago as a tag team, with Cesaro defecting to Paul Heyman's camp instead of turning babyface. RVD is thrown in as a token babyface here for a triple threat, I guess just so that they don't have an awkward heel vs. heel match where the crowd inevitably heavily favors Cesaro.

Swagger interfered in Cesaro's match with RVD in the IC Title #1 Contender tourney, allowing RVD to win.

RVD then disrespected Zeb Colter backstage, causing Cesaro to come wreck RVD's match in the tournament finals, and the three got into a fight. That leads to this.

Divas Title: Paige (c) vs. Tamina

Paige won the Divas Title from AJ Lee on the April 7th Raw after WrestleMania. Tamina won a battle royale on Main Event after that to become #1 contender. I can't imagine she has any shot at unseating Paige here, but who knows.

All in all, not too bad of a card. Having an IC Title match on the show that I care about is incredibly helpful in making a card work. I care about all three of the main event matches on some level even though I think that Cena vs. Wyatt at Mania was pretty bad, I care about the IC Title match, and the triple threat with Cesaro could be good. Only the divas match and the handicap match are throwaways.

I'm expecting a show that is at least decent, though I'm not expecting outright greatness or anything.

God this is a stupid ****ing move.

You are fired twice for not having Paige gifs.

Predictions:

Bull over Leprechaun
Paige over Tamina.
Rusev over I can't even finish come on
I got a real bad feeling it's RVD over Cesaro by way of Swagger and they keep up with this.
Barrett over Big E
Wyatt over Cena
Bryan over Kane
Evolution over Shield with shenangians.

Meh there's really been no Paige/Tamina physical buildup that I've seen, but I suppose Paige winning the title is part of the build to this match since she didn't have it at the last PPV.

not a bad card for a tertiary PPV.

some things i'll be looking out for:

shield vs. evolution is actually pretty important for the 6 guys involved going forward, imo. we can see a shield breakup. we can see a 4th evolution member. we can see the start of a gigantic reigns push or the beginning of the end of batista. i think we're guaranteed to see some sort of twist here.

really hoping bray vs. cena delivers because their WM match left a lot to be desired both in terms of storytelling and in-ring action. i'm expecting bray to go over here.

paige has been really bad and sloppy since her debut. don't think tamina is the right partner here but it is what it is. hoping she puts on a good show; if not, people are really going to be missing AJ.

everything else kinda writes itself.

I read recently that AJ is back on house show cards being advertised in June, so hopefully that's a sign that her absence is a brief one.

I agree with most of Dids's predictions outside of the triple threat. I think it's just going to be straightforward with Cesaro going over. To me they only added RVD to this match to have a babyface in there so that Cesaro wouldn't be getting overwhelmingly cheered when they're trying hard to keep him a heel. So I don't think they want to go forward with any more heel vs. heel Cesaro vs. Swagger stuff.

I think there's a v. good chance of Cesaro winning, I'm just not sure what happens with him next if he does so it makes more sense that he doesn't and they keep some element of him vs RVD or maybe Swagger going. Who is the face he goes up against if he wins and moves on? I don't think they'd feed him to Bryan.

There's also the argument that they need to do something with RVD before he's gone again, so why not roll his stupid fat slow corpse around a bit more.

I think Paige will get a good match with Tamina. I would let Tamina bone herself on me, lets be honest here, she is the one in control. Paige retains obv, just this past NXT they had HHH putting her over, she aint dropping until at least Summerfest, probably much later.

I actually think the triple elimination threat is the potential sleeper match of the night. I dunno who goes down last but I figure Cesaro is getting both eliminations. He is winning MITB this year, I'd bet on it blind right now and this is just the second step down that road after his Andre Homage Event win or whatever it was called.

Shield Evolution can go so many ways I have no idea how to even predict a result. It isnt even predictions imo, its just guessing randomly.

Bryan retains. Should be a pretty good match, nothing too special. I guess its just no holds barred with a different name, I figure the Spanish or maybe French table is going in this one. Finish is probably something like Bryan is going to tap Kane after he spends 20 seconds holding the ropes getting no ref break due to no holds barred. Im hoping we see beast Bryan, not afraid Bryan in the clinch before we get to the usual book by numbers.

Barrett not going over would just be so lolbad. He obv does. They could, if they were smart, make this a double turn match. They wont.

Bray is getting the rub and they push Bryan (c) vs Bray, the rematch from Royalol Rumble at Payback, the next PPV. I guess Bryan is getting Payback for the Royalol loss, but he is champ so really shouldnt care at all. Cena turn? Lol, jk.

I dont care about the midgets. If the tag titles are on the line, I suppose against Rybaxel, then Usos retain. Please for the love of god bring in a new tag team from NXT to feud them with.

Cesaro beats someone at Payback, doesnt much matter who, then he wins MITB the PPV after that.

Short of Shield breaking up I cant imagine a more likely winner at this point.

I guess Cesaro could face Barrett at Payback, in a losing effort for the IC, I'd enjoy that match, but I doubt it would happen.

Barrett doubtlessly defends the IC Title at Payback against Big E.

The automatic rematch for a champ who loses their title is such a terrible booking crutch, but it's not going away.

Good card with a crappy build. Every match except for the Hornswoggle match should be pretty solid.

Lately they have been using the auto rematch at the next Raw, rather than the next PPV. Granted the titles have changed so little recently it might just be a coincidence, but maybe not.

master, do you win points if they are released? Ascension are not long for the big shows if they even get that call up imo. They really need to get a good performance in NXT Takeover PPV at the end of the month, their work on arRival was pretty meh against 2 Cool and not just because they were facing 2 Cool. Everything else I have seen is a 5 spot squash, occasionally they work from behind but only extremely rarely and they never seem to be raising their game or giving their all, they just look like they are going through the motions. I dont even recall them speaking so cant judge their mic work, I assume it is super terrible.

When Paige and Emma are out putting on a nice 13 minute match and Ascension are doing a 6 minute snoozer that is really bad for their future endeavours.

Thinking on it a bit, RVD and Adrian Neville would be a great tag team bringing AN up from NXT and getting him over with the crowd as he debuts his signature spots and finishers, before eventually breaking him off to be the singles star he deserves.

Love or hate RVD (dunno how anyone can hate him, but whatever) he is really over and his signature spots are as good as they were nearly 20 years ago, he still has the best frog splash in wrestling ever (RIP Eddie, but its true) and he and Neville are extremely similar in styles.

Given Rose is going to be endeavoured or hopefully sent back to NXT in less than a month that slot to give someone a push opens right up for AN. Have him drop the NXT title at Takeover to Zayn and bring him up to make some money.

They really have had zero teams to compete against though. They are a monster heel team, they need some kind of credible face to work with to really judge them

I think they would be pretty good foils for the Usos

Usos kinda crushed them on NXT when they worked together though. Like, the quality difference was HUGE and I am not even a big Usos mark.

BTW, I just saw a listicle about dead wrestlers. Its insane I am older than some of these guys when they died, Lance Cade was esp shocking as one I hadnt heard about. Drugs is a helluva drug.

I also read that Batista is a two time grandfather. I loled. He really is that old (not Kane old, but, really old). When he started training he was older than Lance Cade was when he died!

Yeah Kane earned a title shot by being on the losing end of a two-minute squash at the last PPV.

He's older than Kane, actually born in 1966. And Kane is in way better ring shape.

This is actually a pretty decent card given it's a PPV I really shouldn't care about. Just shows how far things have come in the last few months with the elevation of Wyatts/Shield/Cesaro/DB etc. The card just goes deeper and gives you more possibilities.

Soooo Xavier Woods only gets this match as a sorry we kicked you out of the Rumble apology right?

He's been with 3MB so yeah he's a heel. And I suppose Los Matadores are faces even though no one cares so Torito is the face.

Lol, really? I read that he was younger but also that lied about his age when he started training, I guess over time his age has progressively gone further and further back. Eventually we will find out he was born in the 19th century and he is like Highlander 2 (terrible).
