The Mega Powers (Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage) defeated The Alliance to End Hulkamania (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Meng, The Barbarian, Lex Luger, The Taskmaster, Z-Gangsta and The Ultimate Solution) (with Woman, Miss Elizabeth and Jimmy Hart) in a Doomsday Cage match (25:16)
Savage pinned Flair after Luger "accidentally" punched Flair with a glove.
The object of the match was to record the fall in the bottom cage's ring, which was separate from the ring used for the rest of the event.
During the match, The Booty Man interfered and gave the Mega Powers frying pans to hit their opponents with.
I'm sure that I don't want to watch this match, but just reading the description of it was pretty damn entertaining. That's from WCW Uncensored 1996 and was Hogan's last match before his heel turn.
At least the undercard was one of the best ever...I think. If it's the first Uncensored event then yeah, the undercard is fantastic.
I can't wait till old RAW and SD! shows start popping up. Watching matches like Austin/Benoit, Benoit/Lesnar, TLC 3, etc etc in very good quality is going to be incredible.
That was the second Uncensored and on paper the card looks to have been pretty bad overall. Maybe Sting/Booker T vs. Road Warriors and Konnan vs. Eddy were good? The rest looks unsalvageable. As I scan the card I actually do think me and my friends watched this way back when; don't really remember it though.
Tried PS3. Live network content working great. On demand is awful. Network looks good on iPad. On demand works slightly better on iPad, still not really watchable.
I'm goofing around with some of the on demand stuff. Oddly enough, some do the older stuff (Legends Roundtable, old house shows, etc) work perfect. I'm enjoying Texas Tornado vs. Big Bully Busick from an MSG house show in 1991 as we speak.
Since I've done a lot of bitching in this thread only thought it fair that I stop in and say that the PPVs appear to be working now on PS3. Currently watching Wrestlemania X7, so many things I want to watch and catch up on, this may be one of the biggest time sucks in my life.
Just a heads up. At an Xtreme Wrestling Torrent site they're uploading ppvs in vg quality off the Network as they d/l them from the Network. So far they have KotR 93, WM 17, NWO 2001, and a few more. They also have all the original stuff aired so far.
The Sid botch from WCW Sin is edited. It cuts to the back with some limo showing up mid match and when they cut back to the ring Sid is on the mat in pain. It's pretty awkward to watch him just sit there so that Road Warrior can very slowly come to the ring and slightly touch him so Steiner can make the pin.
WCW also run an angle on the same show where a fan mace's Goldberg, jumps the rail, fights security, some how breaks free then just chills at ringside before making his way to the back with Luger. He doesn't look like a wrestler plant either so it may not be obvious to many of the people who were still willing to go to WCW shows at that point. Good message to send to your audience.
Looks like the XBox issue is still ongoing (though I'm not at home and can't check for myself), but one positive: they don't seem to have cut through so many great theme songs that they had for copyright reasons in other years. Demolition's and Slick's themes are two of the best of the Golden Era and didn't appear on more recent releases of the old PPVs. They're back on the network.
Alright well I was able to stream a whole PPV on my computer without it freezing or lagging. Unfortunately the one I chose sucked, since it was WWE's Wrestling Classic from 1985, which I've always been curious about. Like the time I ordered the Subway sandwich with the fake crab spread, my morbid curiosity of 25 years is extinguished with prejudice.
I'm seeing timestamps on Bash at the Beach '97 now, so thankfully just a bug and not just something they passed over. Looks like everything will have them. I've always absolutely loved the 6-man lucha match on that card.
Unfortunately the WWE/XBox standoff continues. I'd like to watch that NXT PPV tonight on my TV but I won't hold my breath.
Yeah, I always have this blackout in my life where I can't even remember when I decided to completely forsake WCW in favor of WWE. I used to watch both Nitro and Raw every week and I don't know what my breaking point was that just caused me to forever turn off WCW. I had practically forgotten it existed when Vince bought it. But I feel confident that I don't care about filling in the blanks very much.
I remember I stopped watching when Hall, Nash, Hart and Heenan were all gone. Guerrero, Jericho etc were all long gone. Schivane(sp?), Madden and that other guy have to be the WOAT commentary team. It's interesting comparing WCW at that stage to TNA right now. Both had a bunch of young talent they didn't build in favor of pushing older stars. Now the good young talent has either left or got old, the old stars are gone and all they have left is one or two gems surrounded by average talent. Production value is terrible in those later PPVs as well, you can tell they were just losing money every where.
For me I don't think it was any one thing WCW did that turned me off. WWF was just so good at the time that I didn't want to miss a single moment so I stopped flipping back and forth between the two.
