Go-home Superstars before KOTR '93. Undertaker has a jobber squash (over PJ Walker, who would eventually get a promotion to glorified jobber Aldo Montoya).

Paul Bearer carries a bodybag to the ring? Was that not just a prop for heel Undertaker? I definitely would have thought it would have disappeared in early 1992 when he turned face. I know it temporarily came back when Million Dollar Man brought in a fake Undertaker, but otherwise I thought that part of the gimmick had died forever in '92.

The post-match had a run-in (of sorts) by Giant Gonzalez, so there was no post-match bodybagging.

Omg Colonel De Beers vs Wahoo Mcdaniel at Awa Wrestlerock 86

The commentator begins the match by stating... "Colonel De Beer. A man who believes in apartheid, white supremacy, no time for minorities"

Heel gimmicks were different back then

After KOTR '93, Yokozuna makes the bodyslam challenge for pro athletes to have a go at trying to bodyslam him on the USS Intrepid. That event is only three weeks later.

During the next three weeks, they run two Lex Luger jobber squashes where he's just playing the regular heel character. I know that TLF talked about how Vince really hoped to have Hulk Hogan be the one to come back to slam Yoko, but it's particularly believable in light of the fact that Luger was making no character shift at all, was being trotted out for squashes that had no real purpose given the imminent hotshot face turn, and the fact that they really didn't bury Hogan on commentary (with, in fact, Vince saying he felt Hulk deserved a rematch).

Wow what a curtain raiser!

Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio at Summerslam 2002

Amazing little match where they got all their **** in with a hot crowd and believable finish, really enjoyable match!

WCW was stuck signing Mongo long-term and only ever got Kevin Greene for spot appearances. Greene was SO much better at every aspect of pro wrestling.

A Steelers all time great too. One of my favorites growing up. RIP.

I was trying not to mention his years as a heel.

I wonder if you could fill an NFL roster with every NFL player that's been featured by name on a WWE/WCW appearance (i.e. mentioned by name, had some interaction during the show)

Just getting to 53 players, I'd like your odds. If you have actually to fill a standard number of positions and put players at them who played that position on a full-time basis in the NFL, I doubt it.

Jim Kelly once sat ringside at Raw and, when the action got close and obviously as a pre-planned spot, attacked the heel wrestler by unleashing a series of hilariously soft punches on him, I think while the face held the heel in place. It was a standout terrible football cameo.

When I say "hilariously soft," I'm talking along these lines.

They dropped more 1993 Superstars episodes.

Ludvig Borga having been played by an actual Nazi really is distracting.

By all accounts Borga was a terrible human being.

I know you’ve discussed the dubious nature of Tatanka’s “undefeated” streak, but you figure Borga’s squash of him on MNR would have hot-shot him to become the company’s clear #1 heel.

Well they moon-pushed him for sure. He was in the main event of Survivor Series '93, and it came down to Borga vs. Luger at the end. Obviously Luger went over. I believe Borga also temporarily looked to have won the IC Title on Raw, but they did a Dusty finish and reversed the decision due to his cheating. They obviously had big plans for him.

Then he injured his ankle before the next PPV and never appeared again. It was a short run and his disappearance was really abrupt. He did very little wrestling after that, so I don't know if he just didn't want to do it anymore or what. Doesn't seem like he had friends in the WWF, so I don't think anyone was shedding tears over his departure.

I liked him when he was around. Obviously wasn't aware of the whole Nazi thing.

Wait, am I wrong? I thought the first Tatanka defeat was on Superstars and not MNR

Actually you're right. I had it in my mind as happening on Raw also.

I remember at the time reading JR’s take on Borga’s death:

“Been reading a little about the death of Tony Halme aka Ludvig Borga and, including his concealed SS tattoo on his calf I won't speak at length about those that have passed away but Tony obviously had issues and was not a great guy to be around. Perhaps others have a different view of this man but I personally found him to be somewhat obnoxious and he could be a bully if allowed to be such. Guys like Halme don't mix well in any locker room and need to be removed from the "team" sooner than later. Nonetheless I still feel badly about the last years of Tony's life as things really unraveled for him seemingly due to alcohol and drug issues. When one competes with "demons" unfortunately the "demons" usually win unless one is personally and throughly committed to changing one's behavior. Wrestlers with problems of this nature either need to have the problem solved, which takes everyone's best efforts specifically the individual himself, or have the problem person needs to be eliminated from the equation. That might sound harsh but some folks would rather "catch a buzz" than do the right thing for themselves, their family and the company for which they work”

It was amusing that he shoved Bruce Prichard aside to create a path. I hope Prichard didn't know it was coming.

Razor Ramon came in as a heel, and one of the things he regularly did was bully the timekeeper before the match (usually Tony Chimel) and threaten him if he didn't take care of his stuff. When he turned face, he kept doing this, which is odd to me. I'm all for heels keeping most of their basic character after a face turn, but that seems like a fairly obvious thing to drop; there are few things as objectively heelish as picking on someone working a menial service position like that.

On the 10/2/93 Superstars, it appears that Ludvig Borga blades while executing a jobber squash (at a point in the match where he had executed 100% of the offense without any push-back).

I don't know that I've ever seen such a thing. I assumed hardway, but went back and it appears not.

As dumb heel turns go, an underrated one is Crush being beaten down to the point of hospitalization by Yokozuna, then upon return declaring that Randy Savage didn't visit him in the hospital enough, and as a result turning on Savage and joining forces with the dude who viciously hospitalized him.
