In the MNW thread, I long bemoaned the Jarrett/Mongo feud, which began no later than December 1996.

I'm here to tell you that this **** is still going on October 1997 without having taken any meaningful break. I cannot even get my mind around that.

Scott Hall was increasingly doing the crotch chop before DX ever did it at all. Odd that it ended up being their staple and that I had no working memory of Hall ever doing it.

Seeing DDP come out with Kimberly reminds me: recently, DDP put out a video where he talked about likely having battled COVID-19, even though he tested negative (his girlfriend tested positive and they both had a hellish experience at the same time). He mentioned that his girlfriend's name is Paige. He later mentioned that she's quite a bit younger than he is. Naturally, I was curious to see what she looks like.

Unfortunately, trying to run a Google search for "DDP Paige" just makes Google think you're a ****ing idiot.

DDP gives a Diamond Cutter to Macho Man on the concrete floor. Macho very understandably softens the blow by hitting a knee before he ever makes mild contact with the floor. Of course, that protective measure makes the spot look like crap.

Heenan: "Oh, he got him good. He got him REAL good." Unfortunately Bobby never had a hesitation to tell a blatantly unbelievable pro-company lie in a way that didn't have anything to do with playing up his weasel character.

William Regal is a huge source of entertainment in late 2001. First he literally kisses Mcmahons ass now pees on the Big Show **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

The Nitro after this post, they announce that Jarrett has left the company, and that Mongo wins their scheduled PPV match "by default." We will never know just how long this bullshit could have dragged on.

For the life of me I don't know what Ted DiBiase was supposed to add as a babyface Steiner manager. But he didn't add whatever it was.

Like, DiBiase was a legit legend from his active career, but as soon as he hung up the boots, did he do ANYTHING good? He wasn't all that good on commentary. He wasn't a very interesting manager. It feels like the entire post-retirement career relied entirely on respect for what he had done in the past, and not on anything he was still doing.

FFS, they just did that thing that WWF did at WM IX. During a ref bump, Larry Z walks out to the ring and counts three on a pinfall to purportedly give the Steiners the tag titles. And the Steiners celebrate like it was real. Why do they insist on making their wrestlers look so stupid?

(In before this somehow doesn't get reversed.)

To open Raw, the Hart Foundation comes to the ring for an interview with Vince. Upon arrival, Vince notes the absence of the British Bulldog, and says "he's celebrating both an anniversary and a birthday." LOL no. I have no idea what the actual story is, but especially with it being the Bulldog, I'm dead certain it isn't because he got the night off for his birthday and anniversary.

I forgot that Kane started out wrestling in Sin Cara lighting. I can't imagine what a jackpot it felt like to be given Kane after being given Yankem and Diesel 2.0.

Makes me curious as to whether there were any wrestlers besides Jarrett who made three defections back and forth during the Monday Night Wars. I can't think of any.

I remember this original HBK/HHH iteration of DX being annoying. Watch it back today, I don't remember them being THIS annoying. This **** makes me wish I was watching a Kevin Nash segment on Nitro.

I just watched the very first Road Dogg walking-to-the-ring intro of he and Billy Gunn (not yet named the New Age Outlaws).

I didn't know that anti-nostalgia was a real feeling, but I'm here to report that it packs a hell of a punch.

DOA was the Public Enemy of the WWF.

Skull and 8-Ball were legitimately worse than The Brothers Blu.

Positive development in late '97 WCW: Booker T has started coming out and doing singles matches without explanation. Hopefully this is the start of him more regularly wrestling without Stevie Ray.

Of all the regular tag teams in history, I'm struggling to readily think of one with a bigger talent split than Harlem Heat. Booker T was really good and Stevie Ray was laughably bad.

Yeah, this must be the beginning of a singles Booker T push. He jobbed to Lex Luger in a hard-fought match and then Luger started his post-match promo by talking about how ****ing good Booker has gotten (which Gene then jumps in to agree with).

But Public Enemy was in the WWF at one point

I don't really remember the timeline but Harlem Heat's definitely not broken up until way later (2000) when Ahmed Johnson debuts and he and Booker feud over the letter T because Ahmed's "Big T".

and unrelated but since I'm here: TLF's Wargames stuff is really good thus far. I'm ~5 hours into it but dripping with unknown info, to me at least.

On January 26, 2020, Hildreth was arrested in Palm Beach County, Florida and charged with DUI and first degree felony hit and run. Hildreth was reported to be driving at 58 mph in a 35 mph zone when he hit a 5-year-old child who was riding a bicycle. The child reportedly flew on to the hood of Hildreth's car and suffered internal injuries but ultimately survived. Hildreth is currently being held on $125,000 bond with the option of house arrest however he currently remains in custody at the Palm Beach County jail.
