Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Great interview there

Tough Enough is interesting, I didn't catch this when it came round in 2001

An easy watch at 25 mins an episode

Triple H shooting on Goldberg and cutting a promo to the newbies in episode 3 is fantastic

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

RVD getting a mega push, the storyline where he is threatening to take over leading the Alliance is great and he is having some great matches

It's great being able to watch Rock, Austin, Angle, Undertaker, Jericho every week. No idea where Benoit is at this time andn Triple H is injured for a while, this is around mid late 2001

The Crow Sting character was even more overrated than the Austin beer truck segment.

Benoit had a hurt neck going into the KotR triple threat match and ended up severely ****ing it up during a superplex. He went under the knife for fusion surgery that week. He was gone until mid-02 I believe.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Getting to the infamous episode of Nitro where the nWo skewered Arn Anderson (on an episode dedicated to him, a detail I'd forgotten), I'm reminded of the fact that moorobot - who was usually spot-on - argued in earnest back in 2011 that Kevin Nash was the perfect heel for CM Punk to be facing.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

That was one of the worst things in wrestling history. Seeing Nash come out at SummerSlam was one of the most mind boggling things ever. Didn't the feud culminate in a ladder match between HHH and Nash?

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

I have it in my mind as a cage match, but I'm not really sure.

Kevin Nash seriously barking, "I was making wrestling fun again!" Wretch.

I thought they never actually had a match cause Nash couldn't get cleared.

It looks like they did finally meet in December 2011 in a "sledgehammer ladder match." So iso did basically have the right memory. I'm sure that match was a dream.

In late 1999. the New Age Outlaws continued to do their sing-song entrance despite being heel.

Very confusing and annoying.

From that Ladder match:

Looking back and this conclusion of The Summer of Punk wasn't even the main event. The main event was actually awesome featuring Seth nearing killing himself on this bump:

I mis-read the HHH part of that. Did Nash ever end up facing Punk though?

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Nope. HHH/Nash was the culmination everything. Punk lost to HHH at the September Night of Champions and was then transitioned to the title picture afterward.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

I can't think of HHH/Punk without thinking of his part in the HHH and friends Raw. His excitement to wear HHH's blazer was second in the emasculation power rankings after Sheamus thanking HHH for giving him the arse-kicking of a lifetime.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Has there ever been a main event story line that was such a disappointment? and so illogical?

We went from Punk/Cena greatness and story line put on a platter for them > Punk retaining at SSlam in a lame finish vs Cena > ADR cashing in after a returning Nash powerbombed Punk after that match > Punk promo confrontation w/Nash > Punk losing to HHH at NoC > Nash texted himself > HHH vs Nash at TLC. What in the world?

in bold because I still can't believe that explanation

I never minded this one - Truth had a pretty fun heel run that year starting with this and ending with Awesome Truth. The water bottle of doom and smoking at ringside were hilarious.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Yeah R-Truth thing was fine and nobody had expectations it'd be great. Cena had run through everyone by that point and they only lucked into the Punk story line two months later to spark any interest.

Little Jimmy was a better worker than Kevin Nash in 2011.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Bret Hart winning the title at SummerSlam '97 and then being sent straight into a PPV program with The Patriot was quite the sabotage of his momentum. That said, I just watched the match and it was surprisingly strong on its merits. Certainly not the first time Bret made the best of a shitty draw.

If you needed to throw a semi-believable challenger at him for the first PPV after winning the belt back, Ken Shamrock would have fit the bill a lot better. Bret thought highly of Shamrock too.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Michaels jumps Bulldog from behind. When asked by Vince for an explanation as to why he wouldn't take him on face to face, Michaels says, "Well, because that would be a fair fight for God's sakes, you moron. I'm a bad guy. I don't fight fair anymore. What, do I gotta spell it out for you?"

Despite combining two of my least favorite things - the annoying-as-**** DX version of Michaels and the breaking of kayfabe - I enjoyed that.

Flair refers to the nWo Horsemen parody as "the first time he's been embarrassed to be a professional wrestler." I mean...that can't be true. But I wholeheartedly support the sentiment.

Re: **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

I still can't see Hugh Morrus without thinking of him going on TV after the Benoit tragedy and, in talking to Debra McMichael, comparing him taking bumps throughout his wrestling career to her being a victim of domestic violence.

He is truly forever that dude to me.
