It's a tremendous match. In fairness to HHH, he's been involved in a ****-ton of great stuff. The story of "wrestler marries Stephanie, gets annoyingly constant focus for decades" could have been worse for all of us, because she could have fallen in love with a talentless hack.

Rob Van Dam has shown up, awesome

Him vs Jeff Hardy for the Hardcore title at Invasion 2001 is a really good match

Amazing how over RVD was from basically the time he started here. The RVD chants popping up through the match even though he was heeling it up

I can't tell you why I'm watching all these network things they're putting on FS1 every Tuesday, but never on the network itself, but they've been showing all these Ruthless Aggression Era documentary type things like it was this period of greatness.

I kinda thought it was a massive failure where business tanked after the Attitude Era. Am I wrong? I mean there was Evolution and Latino Heat and Brock and Jeeeooooon Ceeeeena, but bye bye Stone Cold, Rock, Foley and DX.

It did tank but I wouldn't expect WWE to produce a documentary that buries itself.

I guess they figure enough time has passed that those fans aren't even watching anymore or were young enough they don't remember? But why produce it at all?

I haven't watched the documentary but while the ratings and business did go down, the period itself is remembered by the IWC as one of, if not, the very best period(s) of the product ever even with the horrible reign of HHH because SD! existed without him.

It looks like they threw up 14 additional old Superstars episodes while I wasn't looking (uploaded last month, it appears). It's continuing late '92 into early '93. They're going in the wrong direction with these, but I'm definitely going to be dialing these up anyway.

Borga v Tatanka?
**WWE NETWORK THREAD** Quote

It only goes up until March 1993, so I'm thinking no? Borga and Tatanka were on opposite sides at Survivor Series that year, and I don't think the feud went for that terribly long. IIRC Borga was squashing Marty Jannetty at SummerSlam.

Yep, would have been in Oct 93 I think. Paved the way for Taker to take over for Tatanka at SS

Oh, right, Tatanka subbed out and wasn't actually across from Borga. I have that event poster imprinted in my brain and Tatanka is still on it.

Like, it's not peak stuff, but it's pure childhood still, and it's hard to not get excited looking at it:

Huh. First episode in the new sequence they added opens with Bobby Heenan introducing Jerry Lawler to the WWF for the first time. I remember this moment and having no idea who Lawler was. 27.5 years later, we're still not rid of him. I did love him for a time though.

It always stood out when a tag team jobber squash featured a former JTTS as one of the team members rather than just two straight-up local jobbers. It was never two former JTTS; just one. Episode starts with Nasty Boys vs. Brooklyn Brawler and Joey Joe Joe Jr. Shabadoo.

Though I was willing to root for heels as a kid, when wrestlers who I didn't already care about turned face, I did tend to respond by giving them a chance and seeing if maybe I would like them now. The Nasty Boys never got a moment's consideration from me though, and I always just found it super weird that they were even asking me to give them a chance.

Fast-forward a couple of years and I was willing to give newly turned face Adam Bomb a real shot, but the Nasty Boys were an immediate non-starter.

You could have asked me what the Nasty Boys' finisher was, and I would have been 100% stumped. I would have said, "Uhh...the pit stop?" This squash got closed with a flying elbow. I have no idea if that was a regular finisher.

"Bam Bam Bigelow...with his future ahead of him for sure!"

Well ****, Vince, that really sets him apart from everyone else on the planet. That's pretty deep.

I remember first latching onto wrestling and Bammer not being around, but I regularly rented WM IV which had that awful Bigelow-One Man Gang match. Bigelow was a babyface with a goofy-ass manager and some saxophone entrance music. Three years later, he's back around, and...he's just a bad guy? Why? Because his music is boring now? What happened? I didn't care about him, but I didn't really get why I was supposed to accept that he was just a villain now.

Almost everything about Nailz was just completely absurd and terrible. But I appreciate that they at least had enough self-awareness to go the route of giving him no entrance music.

Lol face Adam Bomb. That was when he turned on Whippleman, right?

I had to go digging, and it looks like it's more on the order of him having turned against stablemate Kwang and then Wippleman deciding to side with Kwang (which is quite a vote of confidence to start a much larger man's face turn).

Adam Bomb had a KOTR qualifying match in '94 against the 1-2-3 Kid. Kwang came down to help and accidentally spit his mist in Adam Bomb's eyes, allowing the Kid to win by schoolboy. Blinded Adam Bomb was pissed and tried to take a swing after the match, nearly hitting Wippleman.

Then, the next week, they had Adam Bomb vs. Kwang, and Wippleman didn't come out with either guy. But he showed up mid-match, and just interceded on Kwang's behalf by convincing him to walk out and take the countout loss. That seems like it was just Harvey picking Kwang, but Bomb never really got at him.

What a garbage-looking face turn. I actually remember thinking that they were setting up a Kwang face turn at the time, which seemed significantly stranger to me since I couldn't imagine the fans accepting him as a face. I did realize relatively quickly in 1995 that Savio Vega was a repackaged Kwang.

This, from Bryan Clark's Wiki, was amusing. I have no recollection of this:

Quote:
As a face, he would throw rubber nuclear missiles into the audience as he walked to the ring and after he won a match.

Lol last few nostalgic posts were awesome

I must say Kurt Angles face turn mid 2001 has been amazing, leading the Wwe vs the Alliance, the crowds are so pumped for all the big matches too

Stone Cold did a great job of embracing his heel persona too

Looking forward to watching their Summerslam match

I’m all for Vince catching the occasional beating from someone who he has dicked around, but Nailz has never come across well in that story to me.
