I'll definitely acknowledge "I was 16" as a legit defense for like 99% of things, that included.

Ha.

I guess I should add that what made this match interesting to me is that I didn't ever remember Jericho being in matches like this-- and it wasn't like it's a death match with weapons. As far as I know it's just a blade job gone wrong. And it's way way wrong.

Really pretty surprised at how strong of a pop Kerry Von Erich got at SummerSlam '90 for winning the Intercontinental Title.

I've probably said it before, but that was really one of the most annoying title changes of my childhood.

I choose to believe they were popping for Perfects amazing work - I have no idea how anyone can go from that tip-toe-dance to spinning around about a hundred times to sell that punch.

Wonder if overall crowds pop significantly less now than they used to due to cellphones/other distractions/higher expectations for matches/worst build-ups for feuds

Too random?

Beyond being a big Mr. Perfect mark from a young age, I just wasn't into Kerry Von Erich at all. I didn't know him at all from anywhere else, so he was a fresh face to me upon entry to the WWF, and I had no idea why they were pushing him. I could tell from the brief build that he was probably winning, so like my other least favorite title change from childhood (Hart Foundation/Nasties at WM VII) I was not surprised, but I was still disappointed.

Being in my later teens, I don't consider it "childhood" as much, but my anger at Shawn Michaels beating Bret Hart at WM XII would rate right up there also. In the middle of '95, I hated Bret Hart (despite having been a big Hart Foundation mark), and Shawn Michaels was one of my favorite wrestlers. Michaels became so brutally annoying as a character by early 1996 that I finally grew to like Bret Hart as a singles star simply because he was the last hope standing in the way of the horrifying prospect of this annoying ******* becoming the WWF Champion.

From the SNME where Sid turns on Hogan.

Seems totally organic and not at all planted.

Never forget that once, during a ref bump, Jimmy Hart turned his jacket inside out to reveal a striped interior, made a three-count, and Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake got up and gleefully celebrated as if they sincerely believed that counted.

The funniest thing about that is that the ref is actually in the process of getting up in the background, so if iverexcited ass Jimmy Hart could have kept his shirt on for 10 more seconds, they probably would have won.

At WrestleMania XI, the Million Dollar Corporation had stolen the urn. Undertaker, in the middle of his match with King Kong Bundy, swipes the urn back from DiBiase in mid-match and delivers it to Paul Bearer before resuming the match. Kama, also part of the Corporation, jogs down and steals it back from Bearer, and on the way back up the aisle he declares his intention to melt the urn down and turn it into a chain that he would wear around his neck.

There's something that always amuses me about that hyper-specific intention to suddenly do that with the urn. Never mind that it's been hanging around in the Corporation for months anyway; he needed Paul Bearer to retake possession for a couple of minutes so that he could really carry out that master plan.

Caught the tail end of the Hart/Magee doc. Two thoughts.

1 - Magee seems like a really good dude who looks completely different now and appears wonderfully oblivious to all of the attention this has gotten.

2 - They really blew it on the marketing of this. This should have been pushed as the unheard Monsoon/Heenan tape.

"Didn't this Magee get thrown off a bridge?...Oh, no. That was Bobby Magee."
"Too bad it wasn't Bobby Heenan."

Not sure if it's the lack of fans in the background or what, but this Super Showdown pre-show may be the most emotionless thing I've ever seen.

Are you insinuating it's _not_ a Wrestlemania Equivalent?!

I was promised as good as or better than Wrestlemania, and I'm not feeling it yet.

GOATunga actually showed a bit of emotion when he reflected on Goldberg's impact. He said that he would go to the gym and his trainer said they're gonna work on "Goldbergs" today - everybody knew he was talking about traps. The early part of the show was just pure script/teleprompter.

I guess one could argue that it's a wrestlemania equivalent if you go back far enough in time.

Given the matches they insist on, it looks like their main form of entertainment is wwe from 10-20 years ago and they just want matches with those who were big back then.

Well, that and I'm sure they heartily enjoy surveillance tapes of journalists getting brutally tortured to death in their embassies. Give it a year or two, and Vince'll probably make a story line about that for them too.

Lol - true.

There was a rumor that they may allow Alexa Bliss and Natalya to wrestle. I'm assuming they'd be so heavily covered, we couldn't tell them apart.

I just saw that Goldberg concussed himself before the match even started and it was so bad they even had to check him out on the way to the ring. Of course, they just sent a 50 year old concussed guy out there anyways because they have no regard for peoples safety. Turns out the concussed guy botched a bunch of stuff, got concussed again with a spear into a ring post, got likely concussed a third time when 50 year old undertaker dropped him on his head, and then collapsed outside the ring because he couldn't stand up to leave.
