Its one of the big appeals, yes, but, the story leading up to the match is great as well. Plus the initial blow to lead to the blood is one of the best chair shots ever

I'll throw that match on once I get done with this Austin-Dude Love match from early 1998.

I can't watch that Eddie/JBL match. So gross. I'm pretty glad they've cut down on the incessant blading.

My main opposition to the hardcore title was the stupid 24/7 rule. I'm fine with no-DQ brawls.

Yeah, I didn't care for Edge-Foley at that one Mania either; I remember that being super bloody. I'm not squeamish about a guy getting busted open or blading here or there, but I don't like an excess amount.

I don't get how Foley was able to get by without suffering more injuries that would shelve him for a good while. Stuff not even at the climax of a match, like at Unforgiven 1998 Austin just tosses him off the platform and he takes the bump square on the concrete from 6-8 feet up with nothing softening the fall...that should break bones and ****. Butnahhh, Foley's just fine, gets up within seconds and continues working the match. Of all the wrestlers that ran into real problems from painkiller addiction, it's amazing that we haven't heard about him being one of them.

Doesnt he say in his books that he very very rarely takes pain killers and hates the way they make him feel?

I'm watching SS 98 now. Back when the IC title use to matter, HHH vs. The Rock in a ladder match.

TLC III (it's from smackdown though) is better than II, though it's debatable.

The Orton/Foley match mentioned above, from Backlash 2004.
Mankind vs Undertaker - KotR 96, Survivor Series 96, SummerSlam 96
HHH vs Batista - HiaC from Vengeance 2005
HHH vs Cactus - Royal Rumble 2000
Cena vs JBL - I Quit from Judgment Day 2005 (super ****ing bloody)
Foley/Edge/Lita vs Beulah/Tommy/Funk - One Night Stand 2006
Hardys vs Edge/Christian - first ever tag ladder match @ No Mercy 99.

TLC I was at SS 2000. TLC II was WM 17. Yes, the second is much better.

10 man tag @ Canadian Stampede
vs Vader vs Bret vs Undertaker @ IYH Fatal Fourway
vs Dude Love @ Over the Edge 98
vs HHH - 3 stages of hell @ NWO 2001 (can also go to hardcore match list)

Absolutely not. It adds to the goodness of the match but the story is :mark:. Cool fact bro: Eddie hit JBL twice in the head after the match twice as hard as he could because he was so out of it.

Wow, Backlash 2004 is really surreal because they have a crowd shot of Nancy and Daniel when Benoit comes to the ring.

Kinda creeped me out a bit.

I hear you; at Unforgiven 1998 there's a match between HHH and Owen where Chyna (due to having interfered in prior matchups) was put in a cage and lifted up to high above the ring in it. As she attempted to escape the cage in mid-match, Owen is positioning himself underneath her and trying to make sure he's there to catch her so she doesn't take a dangerous fall; this, despite them being on-screen enemies.

All the while, the announcers talk about how she's hanging on for her life (honestly she wasn't that high up, and if she had botched and fallen she'd surely have been fine outside of non-fatal injury concerns). Still, it was creepy to have that going with Owen involved, it was just like a year before his death under similar circumstances.

Just read in the Observer Newsletter that the WWE will announce the day after WM how many orders they've had for the network. Should be interesting. Meltzer said that it looks like roughly 350k people ordered in the first two days and that that includes international buys and isn't expected to rise a ton afterwards.

I'm not really sure why the number isn't expected to go up. In that case, is Meltzer really saying that we can call WWE Network a complete and utter failure after two days?

Austin's dvd documentary is on right now. Not on the On Demand section yet. I assume it'll be there in 15 minutes when it's over though. His doc is great.

uacm, I might be misreading it because he goes on to say that they're expecting 1 million US buys by the end of 2014 and 2-3 million US buys by the end of 2015.
