I can't fault you on that. He's more guilty pleasure than anything for me, purely in terms of his shoot interviews. Have hated him for over 20 years as a performer.

TBF to Nash

**** Mabel for dropping his 500 pounds of blubber with full force like that.

FFS that could cripple someone, what was he thinking?

I wasn't begrudging Nash for that, obviously. Nash should've said "go ahead and fire him. he's hurt too many guys."

Speaking of, I always wondered how Yoko did his leg drop so safely. He did it in every match and never cracked somebody's orbital bone...*cough* mabel again *cough*

Speaking purely of his early 90s WWF run, Kamala was an odd heel character. He was just this dude being taken advantage of by a heel trainer and heel manager, but even when following their orders, he never really did anything dastardly. I don't know how that's supposed to draw heat.

LOD finishes a jobber squash with the Doomsday Device. "Somebody's gonna break their neck on that move, McMahon!" -Mr. Perfect

Henry Godwinn didn't get the memo until it was too late.

Unfortunately for Henry, he wasn't able to use the "damn near" qualifier.

Fortunately for Henry: yes.

As a kid, I definitely never put together the fact that babyface Crush was the same Crush we had seen in Demolition. Once I finally did put it together, I felt pretty stupid. Dude was hiding in plain sight under the same name.

Vince McMahon hypes WBF magazine, and specifically praises an article in that month's issue that warns of the dangers of steroids.

We are through the looking glass.

FWIW as a “youngster” in Gorilla Monsoon’s words, I failed to make this connection as well.

I think my low-key candidate for ultimate "WTF, that's the same person?" goes to the time that I found out that Sensational Sherri had been Peggy Sue at WM IV.

Seeing an Undertaker squash (against Gillberg when he wasn't known as Gillberg) reminds me: one of my favorite squash-match moments was when Undertaker first appeared after that Funeral Parlor segment where Jake Roberts slammed the casket door on his hand.

I remember thinking, "Oh, Undertaker is a good guy now? Actually I think that's kind of cool." Then he performed a squash match on Superstars a few weeks later, and the gong got a MASSIVE pop. I thought, "Oh wow, LOTS of people think that's cool." Obviously had zero idea that they were constantly doctoring crowd reactions in the editing room, though obviously face Taker was legitimately very much over.

(I'm just assuming that there's interest in random live-blogging of 1992 Superstars episodes because I really enjoy ABD's posts as he does his chronological watch, but sorry to anyone who gets annoyed by my live-blogging.)

I thought Big Boss Man was always a weird face turn. His gimmick was that he handcuffed a guy to the ropes and beat him with the night stick. Never made sense for him to be a good guy.

The nature of BBM's face turn was pretty weird too. "Wait, you mean I've been doing this for MONEY? WTF?" That said, the face turn definitely got over nicely.

Completely random memory, but I still remember when Boss Man was scheduled to challenge Mr. Perfect for the IC Title at WM VII, and Jesse Ventura said on commentary during Superstars, "I think Boss Man has bitten off a little more than he can chew this time." Given how much larger Boss Man was, it stuck with me that an announcer who I found credible (I always found Jesse to be the most credible from a very young age) was straight-up calling him the underdog. After that, I never thought Boss Man would win the IC Title.

Random small moment that stuck in my mind for 27 years, and I just heard it repeated:

Razor Ramon vignette airs, and then the show heads back into the arena.

Vince incredulously asks, "Chica? What's a chica?"
Mr. Perfect says, "You know...like chicks!"

Even young me was left going, "WTF, you don't know that he's speaking Spanish?" I always remembered it being weird that the announcers seemed to have no awareness of a basic Spanish word.

The YouTube I posted earlier included a mystery masked man. It was Ed Leslie, I've recently found out. This caused me to go check out Ed Leslie's Wiki page.

This is a pretty funny section:

Quote:
On November 7, 2013, Leslie appeared at Toronto City Hall with a pair of shears and a submarine sandwich, claiming mayor Rob Ford "needed an intervention" in the wake of a high-profile crack cocaine scandal. Leslie offered to be Ford's "angel of mercy", saying "Maybe if he gets his body right, he will be able to get his mind right”. Security escorted him from the property. The day before, fellow wrestler The Iron Sheik also tried to visit Ford, and challenge him to an arm-wrestling match.

I was a very upset 11 year old when Paul showed up at WM VIII. I was already upset the LOD weren't on the card but then they were on the event anyways. My 11 year old self wants to know WHY?!??!
