Should we fight about it?

Yeah, Morishima was a player at that point in NOAH which was Japan's #2 promotion in 06 and arguably #1. As recently as two years ago he was the GHC Heavyweight Champion (NOAH's main title).

His title win in ROH was a thing of beauty because everyone figured he was just a flash in the pan because he wasn't an ROH main stay and it was only his second match in ROH after having lost the first the night before. One of the best crowd reactions I've seen in wrestling tbh.

I am absolutely going to watch it. But at some point I watched one of their matches where they just slapped each other. So you know...

This one also has realism. They describe Bryan having a torn bicep or rotator cuff which is also legit. He ends up dropping the belt because of it.

Is "KENTA" hdeo itami?

It's mental that he had so much support with the nickname "American Dragon"

Yep. When Bryan was healthy he was asked who from NXT he wanted a match with the most, he said Hideo and referenced the match above.

I don't know, but I'm guessing there's some alcohol involved.

Yeah, nothing to see here.

I was watching WM3 this weekend. Did anyone else not realize a fan jumped in the ring after Piper/Adonis and he gives Piper a high five. Then you can see the cops jumping in the ring and handcuffing him as Piper walks down the aisle. I don't remember that happening when I watched it the previous 20 times.

Just watched Rock vs Mankind at Royal Rumble 99

I had an idea it would be brutal knowing Foley but JFC 11 chair shots to the bloody pulped head was almost awful to watch. Wow

In a later documentary, Foley's wife and kids were shown in the crowd at the match, and I believe that's the point in the match when his wife had enough and gathered the kids to leave in mid-match.

Unrelated to the family leaving obviously, but Rock and Foley were shown talking in the back afterward, and Foley had actually tried to signal to Rock to stop at some point in the sequence, but Rock missed it.

Yeah, it's a match I can't bring myself to watch anymore. It's just real life brutality in an age where we know what concussions do long term.

Beyond the Mat is the name of the documentary for those who haven't seen it, 20 years old but still a must watch. I found the Foley scenes harder to watch than anything in that film including the Jake stuff. I can't remember the last time I watched the chair spot but I don't want to see it again. The look on his wife and kid's faces is heartbreaking.

It's going to feel like a miracle if Foley is still alive and of sound mind in, say, 20 years. I'm happy that he's even seemingly getting around okay right now in his early 50s.

Didn't Foley have an issue with the Rock for a few years after this? Think it might have stemmed from Rock not showing enough appreciation for what Mick did for him in their feud?

Not really an official source or anything, but this coincides with what I remember reading years ago:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-he-appreciate

Quote:
Foley himself said that what made him even bitter was that he never saw the Rock after the match and that he was the one who went to look for The Rock after the match. He also added that The Rock never looked concerned at all.

If I'm remembering right, their exchange about the match was very cordial. Mick seemed to shrug off the missed signal as a mistake that he wasn't outwardly pissed about.

Of course, a person's immediate reaction isn't always their long-term reaction once they've had a chance to digest things.

I thought I remembered Foley being hurt about the Rock's behavior after the match also.

I think this in one of his books, but again, those where his feelings decade(s) ago.

Who knows how Foley and the Rock get along now. I would be surprised if there are any hard feelings, and if the Rock hasn't at some point apologized.

But I'm speculating wildly.

I believe his first book ends talking about the Rumble 99 and hard feelings toward Rocky and his second book mentions that they squashed the beef.

Poor old Foley. Will be reading every one of his books at some point soon too
