I really didn't like that Flair-Luger Starrcade match when I last watched it.

I did sort of like Luger off and on during his career, but totally agree about the selling.

OMG - that orange ref during War Games was incredibly distracting. WTF? How is anyone expected to pay attention to the action with that guy glowing orange everywhere?

I attended the NXT house show in Austin last week without having watched any of the shows for the last few months, so didn't know a lot of the wrestlers/stories, and definitely thought Velveteen Dream was an absolute standout, and future star. He worked the crowd and his character by far the best of anyone. McIntyre really had a great presence and was very over, hopefully he's not too badly hurt.

I went to a house show for NXT about a month ago and it was very good. I think that is one of the reasons I didn't like the dream/black match at takeover. They had a match at the house show I went to that was almost identical to the one on takeover.

Mcintyre is a really cool guy. He stayed after and was signing autographs and taking pictures. I would guess he stayed with the crowd for at least 30 mins before I left and he was still meeting people.

Doesn't look like Kamala is doing well. He's on life support. Guy has lived a rough life since the WWE, hope he pulls through.

I think this is my favourite match of all time and it was one of the first matches I ever watched

Its just booked to perfection with an amazing lead up story and Superstar's commentary is superb. The crowd reaction was amazing too. The whole thing was goosebump worthy.

He looks like such a goof in that match. At least he grew more in the ring before WM VI. I got goosebumps when his music hit

The way The Fink expounds "and NNNNNEEEEEEEWWWWW WWF Intercontinental Champion !!!!!!!" was probably his greatest call ever aswell. It sounds amazing.

GOAT ring announcer just nudging Buffer imo

Velveteen Dream only being 22 should be a sign of huge things in his future, dude really is the total package

Warrior/Honky is definitely an elite moment. I'm no Warrior mark, but that was definitely one of those moments from the Golden Era.

I’m considering doing my next essay on the genius of Honky’s long heel run; how patient booking set up one of the GOAT wrestling moments with Warrior’s squash.

Been finding myself watching a lot of the late 70's house shows on the network (or at least having them on in the background while I do other things). They're not particularly good. The matches don't hold up at all with very few exceptions.

Bruno doesn't hold up at all. I don't see what everyone loved about him. Kick-punch-kick-punch. He had fewer moves than Hogan or Cena. But every punch he threw, the garden erupted because I guess they never saw him on TV.

I realize now that a young Larry Zbyszko is very similar in stature and his movements to Bruno.

Some of Superstar Graham's matches actually do hold up. Mostly the blood baths. There was one show which was actually pretty good near the end. Superstar fought Dusty and then Rock's grandfather bladed in a tag match right after.

I had no idea how much cross promotional stuff WWE did in the 70s. They regularly brought in guys like Gagne, Race, Dusty and mentioned other champions and territories on the broadcasts.

The most compelling thing for me though, is the language. The **** that comes out of Vince's mouth just casually, people would get fired for today. Midgets, orientals, his description of the way George Steele looks. I think I mostly only pay attention to hear what's going to come out of his mouth next. What a different time.

Yeah, he's going to be a star.

On paper that feud with Aleister Black made no sense and was destined to be completely ****ing horrible. But I was very sports-entertained.

I think the feud made sense. Velveteen was sort of a pre madonna who demanded respect and to be noticed. Black was kind of the no nonsense straight shooter who wasn't going to inflate someone elses ego that didn't deserve it.

This angered the dream because he felt disprespected. Black initially ignored him but became more and more angry when dream kept interferring in his business, matches and attacking him.

After the match, Dream gained Blacks respect and Black finally said his name.

It put both of them over, I could personally follow the logic, was conviced this is how these two characters would play this out and though the match did what it was supposed to. All in all, I think it was pretty good booking and kind of a unique story.

I know nobody cares about this time period, but I'm continuing to find amusement in these late 70s house shows. The one I had on in the background last night, Vince called Jerry Blackwell a "big blob" and a "slob". Also when Rock's grandpa turned on Chief Jay Strongbow (who was the worst by the way), Vince said he "pearl harbored" him. Always thought that was a Gorilla Monsoon phrase, but apparently Vince did it first.

I think I just watched the exact moment when WCW jumped the shark

It was when Jay Leno had one of Hollywood Hogan's 24 inch pythons in an armbar and the Hulkster grimaced in agonising pain during the main event at Road Wild 98

I can't think of a single positive development in WCW after Goldberg squashed Hogan.

CW 6-mans in 99?
Maybe Booker winning the belt in 2000? That was a pretty big development.

On another 1999 note, a couple of days ago I watched Hogan come back in the red and yellow in late 99. That was just odd. Even Heenan was cheering him being back in the red and yellow which was also odd but made sense. He was even rocking the 1994 theme and was then greeted in the ring by Sting and Goldberg. I love Hogan but man I hated this.

Wasn't the whole situation surrounding Booker winning the belt a whole Hogan/Russo/Jarrett ****-storm?
**WWE NETWORK THREAD** Quote
12-06-2017 , 09:27 PM
Nah, that was all planned. There was stuff there that wasn't planned that got Russo and WCW sued but the plan was always Hogan over Jarrett via lay down > belt held up > Booker beats Jarrett.

It's so amazing how awful it was. Then just think of what was happening on USA and UPN in the same time frame. Shortly after the Goldberg/Hogan match was SummerSlam 98 which I believe was Austin/Taker and Rock/HHH. Then in July of 2000 was that Booker/Hogan/Jarrett deal...that month in the WWE was ****ing Rock vs. Benoit main eventing Fully Loaded.
