Also you can't really just have Bret hand the title over and then leave. That plants the idea that Bret had to go to the real federation for competition and makes whoever is WWF Champion next totally hamstrung. See WCW when Flair left as champ.

Yeah, it's always crazy to me that Bret believed that Vince would actually be cool with Bret just losing his smile and handing over the title without jobbing it away, but I guess the fact that Vince allowed Shawn to pull that **** earlier in the year probably helped with the suspension of disbelief.

I suggest people go back and watch Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerrero from WW3 1997

Awesome match after Mysterio seemed to almost break his neck early on

Shout out also to Eddies simple swaggy theme at that time

If you enjoyed that match you're going to love Halloween Havoc 97.

Yeah HH97 an all time great

I love eddies swagger in his entrance, so many little things

Think he's watching chronologically, so he would already be past Havoc.

I haven't seen either of those matches in forever.

Yep, it's my favoutire Rey match and maybe even my favourite Nitro era WCW match. I also love Eddie's entrance as well, the look on his face is so good. The theme is so super but I love it, I was even an lWo mark. With that said, what are some great 96+ era WCW matches? I can't think of too many off the top of my head but there's bound to be a few.

Going back to the screwjob stuff, I have some questions.

My cable stopped carrying Raw at the start of 97 and didn't get it back until 3 weeks after SS so I could only watch PPVs and missed the build for the whole feud. Is it worth going back and watching and if so where do I start?

My other questions are about the screwjob itself. Is it true Bret had some ludicrous 20 year contract with WWE and Vince kind of had buyer's remorse and wanted to let him out of it to sign with WCW, this was agreed upon, Bret negotiated with WCW and that there was prior knowledge before SS that Bret was leaving? If that's true is there roughly a timeline of when these events happened starting with Vince having second thoughts. I've seen the documentary but it was over 15 years ago and don't seem to remember much.

You should definitely go back and watch when you have a chance. Neither are too long and they're still great. HH 97 was one of the first matches I watched when the network came out and I've seen it a few more times since. It's just really easy to watch.

I'd give anything for WWE Network to let you sort by year. They haven't figured that out yet huh?

Yeah the WW3 match was after the HH97 match

I think I was distracted when HH97 was playing so Im going to go back and watch Eddie vs Rey again

What an absolute cluster**** the World War 3 60 man Battle Royal is

Why would you allow all 5 NWO guys in 1 ring together

All tag teams are inevitably in the same ring together

WCW just seems a bit lazy when it comes to storylines and production compared to the WWF and even ECW

God bless Mike Tenay for making sure the viewer understands the background of a feud and the psychology of things JFC

I'm talking about picking just by year, so I could go to 1986 and I could watch a Superstars, then a SNME, and then WM. This way I could see the buildup.

I'll reveal my process for viewing chronologically year by year again, I now have it down to an OCD fine science

I go to this page (pure awesomeness and gets updated regularly with new programs)

https://www.reddit.com/r/squaredcirc..._shows_chron_3

I add each show leading up to a PPV(Raw, Nitro etc) plus the following PPV to my watchlist after I have finished my previously watched PPV

The search function is pretty good for doing this, just typing in for example "Raw 121" will usually bring up that episode as the first/only result

PPVs are searchable easily by year

It only takes a few minutes to add each little watchlist block by following that reddit page and using the search function

That's nice and doable, but it still sucks they don't have a built in feature that does this automatically. It would be easy to implement.

Was watching some YouTube shoot with Kevin Sullivan where he explained a lot of the mid-90's booking from when Hogan came through NWO.

No idea if he's telling the truth, but seemed to be pretty in tune and smart. Mentions having to pipe in cheers for Hogan from the start and that he basically made the Dungeon of Doom to troll Hogan and show him that he can't just wrestle cartoon characters anymore.

I'd love to see WWE put commentary tracks on some of their older stuff.

Wow I am watching The Rock evolve before my eyes

He was so green looking and sounding on his face entry to the WWF when he won the IC belt

The crowd completely turned on him and started Rocky Sucks! chants so he had to go heel. Man he is embracing that ****.

He is obviously getting pushed to the moon (rightly so) since he seems to be taking over the leadership of the Nation of Domination and gets MEGA HEAT opposite Stone Cold here at the end of 1997

I can see his promos improving show by show its awesome

The Rock vs Stone Cold at IYHX is worth a little rewatch, its a fun one where Austin drives a pick up truck to the ring and stunners DLo on it

****s getting reaaaalll good about now in both WWF and WCW

You'd be doing yourself a real favor if you just pretended WCW ended right after Goldberg peaks. There are going to be things you won't be able to unsee.

You're being too kind to Rocky. They wanted him to die.
