I think I just watched the unintentionally lolest thing in wrestling history

The Shockmaster's entrance at Clash of the Champions Aug 1993

Loved Jesse Venturas follow up with Steamboats dragon entrance for the next match after the incident, " we're full of spectacular entrances Tony" while cracking up

I see The Shockmaster was Tugboat, he pretty much ****ed up his WCW career before it started

One of the issues WCW had was that they didn't think enough about what could go wrong on live TV. They tried to do these complicated things (like the Sting vs Hogan Starrcade finish) that could easily be undermined, especially with all the egos and politics players they had.

Then again, the Shockmaster incident surely is more entertaining than anything on RAW most episodes these days (Hell, most months) so perhaps Vince should roll the dice more instead of being so careful.

I have been watching WCW 1991 PPVs, and I can only say "Wow!! Is that a pile of suck!"

I started with Halloween Havoc because I was listening to a podcast that picks an old PPV from the Network and does a review while they are watching. So I decided to give Starrcade a shot. Their biggest show of the year and they do the Lethal Lottery? I was looking to see of there was a behind the scenes reason why, but then I saw they did the same the following year so i guess this was a direction they wanted to go. Mayne it was their answer to Royal Rumble.

I just started the Great American Bash which many people have said is the worst PPV of all time. Ill let you know after I get through it/

Well, that's what happens when you hire a Pizza Hut manager to run your wrestling company and run off all the wrestling minds.

I can't say I understand why you're continuing to watch PPVs that you're convinced will likely be horrible based on the year and company, but...enjoy.

Well like I said, I started because of the podcast I was listening to. Then I was intrigued a little by the Lethal Lottery idea, but that fell flat. Now I feel like I need to see what is regarded as the worst PPV of all time.

I will say this, I have watched the first match which was Bobby Eaton and PN News vs Terrance Taylor and Steve Austin in a Capture the Flag Scaffold Match. It was terrible. I just never understood the appeal of a scaffold match, but whatever. If that wasnt bad enough, they started off with that slow plodding match with zero action and followed it up with 7 minute intermission while they took dowb the scaffold. Now The Diamond Studd is squaring off against Z Man.

King of the Ring '95 still stands out in my memory as being historically awful.

Mabel's tournament run to the crown
Diesel/Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Sid/Tatanka for a main event

They wasted Bret Hart on a "kiss my foot" match with Lawler, and they wasted Shawn Michaels by having him not even advance past Kama in the KOTR tourney's first round. In 1995, when they wasted both Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels on a PPV, the card was a never-ending pool of darkness.

Ill check that one out. '91 was about the time I stopped watching as a kid and didnt watch another event until WM 12, so there is a bunch I would like to catch up on.

Watch the 92 Rumble match and WM X and you're set for 91-95. I rewatch a lot of classic wrestling and I've never given much thought to it but I watch almost 0% outside of those things during those years.

edit:
Giving more thought to it:
Vader vs Sting ppv trilogy is must watch
Beach Blast 92 ppv is must watch

KOTR '93 is pretty strong, even if you only watch Bret Hart's KOTR tourney matches. The second round match against Hennig is exceptional.

Also if you stopped watching before it, Bret vs. Hennig from SummerSlam '91 should be watched before that '93 match.

Im going to stop now with about an hour left in the show, because Im mentally exhausted from watching this. I dont even know where to start. The last three matches Ive seen have each had a masked wrestler in them. Their names were Badstreet, Yellow Dog, and Black Blood. What in the holy hell is this ****? In case you wanted to know, Yellow Dog came to the ring with Man's Best Friend. They couldnt even give the actual dog a good name.

There are 4 matches left to watch and the only one that even looks like it might be good is Windham and Luger in the cage for the vacant world title. And so far the most exciting thing Ive seen was when the 10 lumberjacks outside the ring for the Big Josh/Black Blood match started brawling. I cant believe people paid money for this and didnt riot afterwards

The lapsed fan does a lot of terrible shows (I assume this is the podcast you mean.) After listening to a 4 hour podcast about them, there is no reason to put yourself through another 3 hours just to see how ****ty it is. They break it down pretty well

I was out loud laughing at that. Between the hunchback Great Wizard that went out with him and the ridiculous mask he was wearing I couldnt control myself. Then the pyro display started and I lost it.

I just went to watch an NXT ep and before the video loaded there was an ad like you would see on youtube. This is the first time I've seen it and I instantly ********* it so it won't affect me at all but if it becomes a regular thing then that's bull****. This is the only paid video service I know that does this.

Just watched it and it's gold. The pyro along with the hilariously out of place music is what I love about. Also love how JR and Tony S talk him up as some serious competitor while he's walking to the ring in that mask.

I don't have a huge gripe about reasonably short ads cropping up on the network, mostly because $10/month has always felt cheap to me and I'd rather see them take those measures than to start to hike the price.

I agree. Besides they are so quick that Im usually still getting settled in by the time the commercial is over.

With that said, I totally expect them to raise the price to something like 12.99 or 14.99 within a year or so. Or maybe have two tiers of membership where one lets you watch on demand stuff and a higher priced one that allows you the live stuff too

They probably can't hike the price very much without losing me, unless the current product gets better. Don't know how common my stance would be among subscribers though.

Yeah I agree a 30 sec video at the start of a 1-3 hour video is nothing and a slightly higher price is still great value but I also like to nitpick the WWE. I didn't realize Hulu Plus had ads.

How much time would you really save by refreshing? 5 seconds max?
