Been watching old Summerslams last week or so.

For being one of the "Big 4" PPV's now, it seems so odd to see the main events at the first 5 or so.

1988 - Hogan/Savage vs. Dibiase/Giant in tag match
1989 - Hogan/Beefcake vs. Savage/Zeus
1990 - Warrior vs. Rude for title - went on last but seemed like they pushed Hogan vs. Earthquake more
1991 - Hogan/Warrior vs. Slaughter/Gen. Adnan/Col. Mustafa with even the wedding after that
1992 - Hart vs. Bulldog for Intercontinental Belt (UK I get it)

I followed it back then so I understood the stories it's just kinda random to see all these tag matches be the main events.

The title didn't change hands that often back then, so they usually kept the big main events for WM.

Titles are won or lost, they don't change hands.

I understand what you are trying to say here, but to be fair all three of those tag matches were very relevant to the WWF at the time. The first one especially, because if I remember correctly that was the first time the Mega Powers competed together, and they were a HUGE deal at the time.

But to expand on something else, I wonder if the days of Summerslam being a "big 4 PPV" are over. I really dont see anyway that this year's SS will have a bigger card than what they are going to give us this month at Battleground, and according to some people, the reason Battleground is so big and they didnt wait until SS is because of numbers reporting for the Network. So I wonder if this is a sign of big things to come with regards to how PPVs or Special events, or whatever they are going to call them, are going to be handled down the road. Or is this just a one time thing whose goal is to pump up subscription numbers for the latest quarter

Hardly any WWF stuff from 92 up there, just the 4 ppvs and 2 SNMEs

Im up to Clash of the Champions June 92 in my consecutive content watching and its some lame international tag tourney which has surprised me with its awesomeness

In fact the WCW production values and match quality of the light heavyweight matches in Wcw 91/92 has been amazing so far

Its all new to me too having never watched any WCW at all growing up

First Chris Benoit sighting during this COTC show too, Brian Pillman and Jushin Liger vs Benoit and Beef Wellington (lol)

Pretty awesome match, Liger was unreal

Network is getting me to sign up again...2 or 3 weeks after I cancelled because I randomly want to watch Seth win the title again and can't find it anywhere. Brock wrestling this Sunday may influence just a little bit as well.

I've been looking for something like that and even tried creating one myself. If we were to try a chronological watch, is there a way to sort by date added to see when something older gets added?

Decided to start watching through the Reddit list from 1998 til today. Just seen the Tyson/Austin episode and at the end, Tyson and his posse are arguing with McMahon in the parking lot, with Tyson trying to say he wants Austin, the last thing before it fades to black is Tyson looking down the camera shouting "******!". There was also a pretty homophobic sign in the crowd aimed at Brian Christopher. Funny what would go unnoticed then but wouldn't pass these days.

It's amazing that in 1990 fans still went wild for the formula of "hogan gets beat the entire match, then no sells the final 15 seconds, does two moves and gets the three count."

But I guess don't fix it if it ain't broke.

ETA: hogan was super bald and didn't have a bandanna at all. Respeck.

Also, randomly, Piper did commentary with Vince.

Double also, it's weird that the main event (warrior vs rude for the world championship) is basically just two perennial IC contenders doing the same thing they'd been doing for years.
