I want to say I remember hearing an interview w/Bischoff saying they got Disney/MGM to pay them pretty handsomely for those tapings. I could be wrong, though. Also, in a typical arena, I don't think the night where they threw Rey Mysterio, Jr. into the side of a trailer would have had the same effect.
I also remember the classic Rey/Malenko match from MGM where there are nothing but old fogeys about 5 feet from the ring and there are all sorts of high risk maneuvers that could've easily taken a retiree out.
