Oh good, Peacock is also editing out chair shots to the head.

I hear they're editing out all instances of violence, including wrestling.

If they're going to go through with a fine-toothed comb for stuff like that, I don't see how they don't end up completely gutting the Attitude Era. Though I'm not finding this new thing about censoring chair shots to the head when I try searching for it.

Really seems like quite a can of worms for them to be opening given the Chris Benoit issue, as he's clearly the single biggest reason that there is such a high level of (perfectly warranted) sensitivity to unprotected chair shots in wrestling.

Phew, glad to hear this. I just renewed my subscription. This Peacock BS sounds terrible

Right. And then everything prior to AE for being insensitive to some group or other. It's almost like they don't know what they bought. The network will eventually consist of only John Cena (post-rapper gimmick) appearances.

Rock vs Mankind from Royal Rumble 1999 and its many awful chair shots appears to be uncensored on Peacock FWIW. If there was a move toward censoring unprotected chair shots then I have to assume that’s one of the first places they’d look.

Seeing this match in Beyond The Mat with MF’s daughter screaming is awful.

Yep. It was a good thing that someone forced him to sit down and watch it, since it clearly affected him too.

Watched Bob Backlund and Greg Valentine go to a one hour draw in 1979. Was, by far, so much better than anything else I've seen from this era. I knew Backlund was in that kind of shape, but not Valentine. These two guys beat the **** outta each other two. You could hear the smack and thud of each punch. I'm pretty stunned at the quality of this match.

Match ended with a pile driver that looked like it was inches from breaking Valentine's neck. Takes guts to let a guy hit you with that move after going for an hour. Valentine puts on the figure four post-match for exta heat.

I know we had the discussion about a month ago about Valentine being useless. Maybe 10 years later, but he's one of the best they've got in this era.

It appears that Peacock only bought the rights to WWE Network, so they could get the live PPV Shows. My goal over the next few weeks is to purchase all of the Coliseum Video VHS Tapes, and then the DVDs of Primetime Wrestling, Tuesday Night Titans, and Superstars of Wrestling and then I'll only need footage of the house shows from the Maple Leaf Gardens, the Boston Garden and MSG. Then I won't have any need for the Notwork at all.

Got a source for this? NBC is savvy enough to understand the value of that library

We will see after that 17,000 hours of viewing is over, what's left of it, and then you can make the decision.

Pretty certain if they just wanted the ppvs they could have made a deal for just that

Yeah, until they actually go further with the censorship, I'm going to reserve judgment and hope that they come to their senses about doing much more of it. Hopefully they just land on putting warning labels/disclaimers at the starts of shows.

If the only thing they ever lifted was that Vince/Cena/Booker moment, I would just shrug at the whole thing altogether. Lifting an actual match from a WrestleMania sucks, even if I don't remember that being a particularly good match and I don't personally care about watching it.

If they do outright gut the wrestling catalog, Peacock would probably eventually lose my business unless they really strengthen their overall streaming selection.

I thought the Hall of Fame would be tonight, and just found out that it was earlier this week. Guess I'll watch now.

First inductee is JBL. I enjoyed him, but unfortunately something like this is saddled with the knowledge that he's one of the more insufferable dicks in the industry.

Incidentally, they've made good initial progress toward catching up with uploading the WWE Network catalog onto Peacock. On initial roll-out, they had almost no WCW PPVs. They now appear to have all of them up. Looks like they have most Raws up now, though for some reason they don't have pre-1996 episodes up yet. They have everything 1996 to present though, it appears.

Still missing Nitro and a lot of Smackdown, but they've at least been putting a lot up since the scant roll-out.

Yeah, Hall of Fame in the thunderdome doesn't seem like it works. A lot of the fun of the Hall of Fame lies in watching the inductees be reunited with their peers and get to address and interact with them.

I moved on to watching WrestleMania IX, which can only mean that I hate myself.

Of all the things that people rightly mock about this show, one thing I never really hear brought up is this ****ing weird business where they had Luna Vachon cornering for Shawn Michaels. WTF kind of a fit did anyone ever think that could be? They killed that association immediately, but I guess it was an initial glimpse into the weirdness of putting Chyna with HHH simply because of the real life association and not at all because it was an actual character fit in any way.

Please assure us all you have no plans to hurt yourself or others.

Easily has to be the WOAT WM ending, no?

I haven't seen every WrestleMania. But yes.

Before the Bret/Yoko main event, Hogan cuts a promo where he says that he's going to challenge Bret Hart or "the Jap." Someone should probably alert Peacock.
