Tough Enough was insane to think about

Only 10ish weeks for completely new guys to get up to speed and have matchs live on TV?

Maven vs Tazz was lol, he missed his dropkicks and looked green as hell. Now seeing the timeline they did that show on, he did pretty well really.

Hogan vs Warrior, and its build up, was as close to wrestling angle execution perfection as anyone could do

Absolute brilliance

I very much hope you're talking about the 1990 rendition. It really was shockingly good. I didn't actually see the match until years after the fact, and it caught me off-guard how good it was.

I feel like Warrior had 3 memorable matches that weren't train wrecks.

Honky Tonk when he won the IC title because it only lasted 9 seconds.

Hogan when he won the WWF title, which is incredibly surprising because neither of those guys were known as good workers.

Savage at Mania, which I'd certainly call his best match. Unfortunately, the most striking thing to me concerning that match is that everyone involved in it from Macho, Liz, Warrior, Sherry to the ref (Morella) and announcers (Gorilla & Heenan) are all gone.

Speaking of train wrecks, I would have loved to have seen a Goldberg/Warrior match at some point. Could have been the biggest disaster of all time.

Warrior-Rude at SummerSlam ‘89 was very enjoyable.

9/8/97 Nitro. Malenko vs. Psicosis. Idiot fan hits the ring, and tiny-ass referee Mark Curtis singlehandedly takes him down with ease and then holds him down in a front facelock until security swarms. That was quite satisfying.

From at least the moment that Nitro hit the air in 1995, neither of the Steiner Brothers ever did a single interesting thing (outside of the Steiner math promo in TNA). Just boring as **** despite still having some talent and some ability to go. I liked them a lot earlier in their careers.

Is this the prevailing view around here, or am I in the minority?

Harlem Heat vs. Steiner Brothers was on Fall Brawl '97 to determine #1 contendership. I can't get my head around anything but strongly preferring Harlem Heat there. Having the Steiners be the primary tag team foil to the nWo for such a long time sucked.

As a team, you're correct. But as singles, in the minority.

Funny, since I definitely still prefer the (boring) tag team over any of the Big Poppa Pump stuff. I get that potentially coming down to some liking the character when I always found him to be nails on chalkboard, but I really can't remember anything even remotely resembling a good Big Poppa Pump singles match.

The Big Poppa Pump character, before he ****ed up his back, might have had the makings of an all time great.

2 Big bastards going at it hard

And a big +1 to being bored to death by the Steiner Brothers team

It was always a dull waiting game till you got to see either the bulldog off the top or the frankensteiner

Big Poppa Pump has been funny in a cringy way but I prefer the DFG

Lol yeah

The package, with all the build up, they played before the actual match was so good.

The Royal Rumble teaser, followed by the weeks each competitor helped the other out vs the heels, protecting each other for their Mania match was masterful storytelling.

Then the "accidental" clothesline from Warrior on Hogan while clearing the ring of The Genius and Mr Perfect ramped up the anticipation to a massive level

That theme's actually hated on a bunch by most of the IWC. My wife and I absolutely loved it.

You mean Hogan vs Macho Man. The Megapowers angle is the greatest angle of all time.

Always wondered why they transitioned Sunny out of managing and into randomly showing up as guest ring announcer, given that she was still really over and was better than most at managing.

Guess it's probably just when Vince stopped liking managers.

On a September '97 Raw, Jim Ross refers to Owen Hart as "the former Blue Blazer." Hard to imagine they had already given any consideration to putting him back into that damn gimmick, but it's a pretty random deep pull assuming they hadn't. Gimmick was over eight years old at that point.

Maybe it's the fan on the hard camera side who has a sign saying "Owen fears Koko B. Ware." Sent JR down memory lane.

Speaking of which, I enjoyed this video just because of how tickled Bret was by the fact that Owen was in that tag team.

Just popped on the network. No idea what I wanted to watch, but Best US Title Matches popped up first. Starts off with Magnum/Tully in the cage from Starrcade '85. Sure. Why not?

Have only seen this match once in it's entirety. Only started watching WCW regularly long after Magnum's accident and Tully was more of a tag team than singles guy.

Didn't notice Hebner (I guess that's Dave?) was the ref here first time around.

No flying around or crazy moves. Just brutality and blood from two guys that made you believe they hated each other and were fighting over something important. It's everything I want my wrestling to be. Really stands up well to time. This is a top 10 all time wrestling match and something I'd recommend every wrestling fan see at least once.

In fact, I'd call Starrcade '85 one of the greatest wrestling events of all time. The only real drawback for me was that just about every match on the card was a bloodbath.

Then they jump straight to Clash of Champions '91 for Sting vs Rude.

That's it pre-1990? Disappointing.

Third match up is Wolfpack Luger vs NWO Hart from '98. I don't even remember this.

Seems they're going to just skip through the decades of NWA/WCW history for this title and give you nearly 3 hours of WWE matches. Ugh. May be cutting this watching experience extremely short.
