I had thought he'd stopped doing the stupidity where he rammed his head into things before he even went to the ring. Was this because Undertaker said he wanted the WCW version of Goldberg?

I cant help but go back and watch old school wrestling. I love it

Watching the MSG House show from March 1990. Its fascinating watching Jim Powers and Iron Mike Sharpe get 15 minutes to have a proper match lol

Frenchy Martin vs Koko Bware is another one on the card getting a lot of minutes (with noticeable boring chants)

Looking it up Frenchy was only 40 years old in 1990 but he looked way older. TBH I had no idea he actually wrestled back in the day I thought he only managed

I also must say I mark out at sneak salt attacks by Japanese wrestlers to the eyes, especially the Orient Expresses' Sato

Rick Martel vs Bret Hart is an awesome match up

Awesome to see the Fink sell the hell out of the Arrogance fragrance when Rick sprays it around the ring

I got a deal somehow for three months of the network for .99 cents. Some of the old stuff is pretty good.

I was interested to see the old ECW stuff as I went to a lot of these shows in the 90s. I know they have to overdub the music because ECW never licensed it. That’s disappointing since the themes and how the wrestlers used them were an integral part of the show.

That said I really don’t get why they censor the pay per views and old arena shows. They put a TV-MA rating on it. Why edit the language out of it?

They probably had a version of it that played when there was a WWE on-demand deal with cable, and it probably required editing. And they probably just upload whatever version is most convenient in filling out the network catalog.

That said, they should have just had one long bleeped sentence when Douglas is on the mic at the first PPV, since he says "son of a bitches" and that's not how you pluralize "son of a *****." I watched a tape of that PPV many times when I was a teenager, and even the young version of me was enough of a nit that that part of his promo made my skin crawl.

I disagree. This is a new world we're living in. Multiple bitches can have a male identifying child and there's nothing wrong with that.

Going back to the music though, just be thankful that Heyman had the gumption to just use the music without ever giving a **** about licensing it the first place or you would have never have had that original experience because he sure as **** wasn't going to pay for it.

It didn’t seem like much at the time and it’s certainly nostalgia driven, but the TV open was iconic, as were the entrances for PE, Sandman, and the Gangstas with NBK going on through the beating. Seeing it without them magnifies how good it was and how well it all fit together.

I’m really tilted by WWE not paying for the music rights, for entrance music and Coliseum Video intros.

Yeah. My brother that hasn't watched pro wrestling in decades recently signed up so he could watch old stuff from the Monday Night War era shows and he got so pissed when chris Jericho came out and Break the Walls down played instead of the Pearl Jam knock off.

It seems some absolute champ is trying to restore ECW videos to their former glory

Im just too scared to click on any links there for a forum with chan in its title

If someones brave enough to go down the rabbit hole let us know if th restorations are legit lol

The update is fantastic for searching stuff you haven’t watched, but annoying as hell to lose watchlist and also I can’t cast from iPhone to Chromecast which was my default.

Lol no watchlist anymore? Why on earth would they remove this feature, was awesome for lining up content jeez

Lol

Im pretty sure they have pulled some content

I was up to Thunder 117 which was June 2000 and now they only have Thunders up to May 2000

If that's the case then they absolutely have pulled content. I went to a Thunder in Australia in OCT 2000 and have watched it a few times on the Network.

The most annoying thing about the Network for me is that they still shoot original content in 720p in the days where 4K is the standard for new TVs. I don't expect them to shoot in 4K but at least 1080p would be nice. 720p on a 4K is horrible.

It's weird how it's easier to jump on YouTube and type in "rockers barber shop" than it is to find it on the network, but anyway. I watched that clip this morning. Great stuff.

When Hennan tells Gorilla "Jannety jumped into the window!" it made me miss his work so much.

That line is an all-time classic, but I stand by my opinion of the predictable 180 into “I knew he was gonna do that” being hacky.

At the end of Haku vs. Herc from WM V, they shouldn't have just hit Herc's music right away. It was a finish clearly designed for a dramatic pause where the crowd doesn't know that the babyface won until the ref raises his hand. The way they did it leaves the crowd confused rather than giving a nice face pop to Herc.

There is quite a chance that you may have just given this particular moment in time more thought and attention than anybody who was not directly involved in this match ever has.

Yet, I now feel compelled to search this out at some point in the near future.

As a kid, it was the curtain-jerker of the first PPV I ever rented and watched. I definitely recall having a "wat" reaction when Herc's music immediately hit.

WMV was the first time I ever rooted for a heel. I remember telling friends that even though Savage got pinned, he kicked the crap out of Hogan and would have won on points.

I wonder how that turn would have been received in today's environment. I'm guessing the Savage turn on Hogan would have went similar to Becky's turn on Charlotte last year. I don't think they'd be able to successfully make Savage the heel to Roman..I mean Hogan today.

Also don't think the selling of a person into slavery would go over well either at this point. If I remember, that was the storyline that turned Herc, correct?

It was. That wouldn't go over well today with that particular verbiage, but a rich wrestler leveraging his wealth to subjugate a poor wrestler can still be done without much issue I think. JBL/Shawn Michaels is the last example I can remember.
