Hour long special and the first ten minutes is an Elias skit. Weird.

Somehow the Elias singing led to a 4 on 4 women's match.

Rey and Nakamura on the Miz TV in ring set for an interview segment.

Nakamura holding the microphone like a boner is making watching this worthwhile.

Rey mysterio m, in a neck brace, challenging a guy a foot taller than himself is hilarious.

Rey was tremendous when he said Miz didn't understand the importance of Starrcade and to prove that, he rattled off the same legendary names that Miz had just mentioned made Starrcade great. Dunno why Nak was dressed like Elvis though.

The "Extra Attitude" segments at the end of some of these attitude era Raws are hilarious

Its obv supposed to be some bookend for the night for the live audience as there is no commentary. It always ends up with Austin tricking the villian into having a beer with him before him giving them multiple stunners which are ridiculously oversold **WWE NETWORK THREAD**

Just watched Raw 336 and Triple H was fkn hilarious, loved his nice touch with not being able to catch the thrown beers at all compared to Austin who always catches his brews

Gotta say, while I certainly wouldn't eliminate the on-demand aspect of the Network and would in fact unsubscribe without it, I do have mixed feelings about just how positive the nearly limitless selection is. Every time I just aimlessly open up the WWE Network, I find that I'm paralyzed by the crazy number of choices that I have.

Part of me does mourn the loss of, for instance, the thrill of a favorite song coming on the radio when you have no idea what's coming next. For that matter, part of me also mourns the thrill of seeing your in-demand tape of choice being in stock at the video store.

Again, let me circle back to saying that I wouldn't actually be willing to give up what the Network offers us, but it's also hard not to get nostalgic for some level of scarcity in the availability of what was out there.

I miss being mesmerized by the clamshell Coliseum Video tapes, whenever I went to a video rental store.

I'm still annoyed that my local video store just stopped getting the wrestling tapes after Survivor Series '89. I kept going back to see if Royal Rumble '90 had arrived, and...nope. And nothing after that.

It amuses me to know that in those days, my folks had to pay over $100 for a membership just to be eligible to pay for video rentals. It was a revelation when the local grocery store incorporated video rentals and didn't charge any membership fee to rent from them.

My mom took me to Delchamps grocery store a lot to pick out the newest ppv when I was a kid. We didn't have so I never got to watch the weekly stuff. It was just magazines and PPVs and I couldn't get enough

Lol that means you missed out on promptly watching that hot Bushwackers vs Rougeaus match that I praised earlier...

I grew up in a small NZ town with 1 local video shop. On TV we only got a weekly dose of WWF Superstars late on Friday nights but the Video Shop had a couple of years of back catalogue of both WWF and NWA PPVs

I remember being a bit freaked out that the NWA advertised bloody matches but it was a different feel to WWF events

Definitely heart breaking going in with high hopes to get a new PPV only to see the "Sorry Im out" sign on the case. Always used to multicall harrass the store asap after the 10am next day required return time to make sure I got it as soon as possible

The 1988 Royal Rumble on the USA Network, the one Duggan won, was the first televised Rumble, but I never realized that there was an untelevised predecessor.

Bolded is pretty funny:

Quote:
WWF @ St. Louis, MO - Arena - October 4, 1987 (1,976)
Nikolai Volkoff pinned Hillbilly Jim
Don Muraco pinned Bob Orton Jr.
The One Man Gang pinned the Junkyard Dog at around the 4-minute mark
Davey Boy Smith & Billy Jack Haynes defeated Demolition via disqualification
Billy Jack Haynes (sub. for Ricky Steamboat who was supposed to be the sub. for Jake Roberts) defeated King Kong Bundy via count-out
Paul Orndorff defeated Rick Rude via count-out
WWF Women's Champion Sensational Sherri pinned Velvet McIntyre by using the tights for leverage after a crossbody from the challenger resulted in Sherri rolling on top for the win
The One Man Gang won a Royal Rumble when both he and the Junkyard Dog went over the top at the same time after 12 minutes; pre-match stipulations stated the winner would earn a world title shot for the next show in St. Louis on 11/7 but OMG's title shot was announced during intermission, angering fans

Mixed match challenge both guys are down and trying their best to tag in their partner asap as they are ****ed.

It was at that point I realised it has no jeopardy at all because as soon as you tag in the other gender the other team has the same thing happen by default. This stupid no wrestling other genders basically destroys 90% of the psychology behind good moments in tag team wrestling.

I assume this **** ends up on the network at some point, I don't think there's a facebook wrestling/MMC thread.

Sort of enjoying the Hennig fighting off retirement angle but wierd that they just dropped the rednecks gimmick so fast with no warning or explanation. WCW did that a lot

This storyline would not go down well in 2019...
