It is. Conrad talked about the backstory of some ECW guys that made it to WCW and Tony was convinced by Conrad to give it a shot because Conrad was a huge fan of ECW growing up.

It was actually. It started off as a JCP/WCW version of Bruce’s show, but it became apparent that Tony doesn’t have the recall that Bruce has, especially with the later WCW stuff. Conrad at one point even remarked that it should be called “I Don’t Remember with Tony Schiavone”. During the initial run they did a watch along with maybe Wargames 2000 and saw that was the way to go. Tony’s personality shines more with the watchalong format, so they have gone in that direction ever since

Can't remember it if he was never really paying attention when it happened. In fairness to him though, not to many were paying attention the last couple of years of WCW.

Tearing up watching the Owen Hart tribute Raw 313

Having seen so much of his work and read so much about what a loved guy he was this is hitting me in the feels

Some touching tributes

For whatever reason I found that less weird than HHH emotionally including "never a piece of trash." Loved Jarrett winning a match with the Sharpshooter.

Really though, the hidden gem in that HHH bit is him talking about Owen putting him in a backslide in the middle of a Royal Rumble and refusing to let him go. That **** is gold, though probably my favorite prank discussed on that show was "I'm gonna tell them Test said to cancel the show."

My feeling early on was that he was just mentally checked out of the last 2-3 years of WCW and that his recall would be better with the older stuff. Unfortunately the newer stuff always won polls because the average person is stupid so never really go to test that theory. At least with a big enough sample size anyway. Either way, the watch alongs are fantastic and I’m quite happy with the direction of the show.

I think part of it was also that Bruce was a much bigger player backstage, and hence had better stories, than Tony was. But I could be wrong.

Underrated pop, courtesy of the Jumping Bomb Angels at the 1988 Royal Rumble, who were seemingly barely known and didn't get much of a pop for their entrance. A well-worked two-out-of-three falls tag team title match later...

Rick Rude leaves WWF for WCW. WWF writes him out...by having Jack Tunney indefinitely suspend him for making mean remarks about Big Boss Man's mother.

I shudder to think what would have happened if Rude had crashed Boss Man's mother's funeral and dragged her casket around.

Watching Hart Foundation (heel) vs. Rougeau Brothers (face) in a random 1987 match.

Lord Alfred Hayes: "These young Rougeau boys, they mean business with a capital B! ... or a W, for wrestling!"

Pretty crazy coincidence; I always capitalize the W in "business."

*camera pans to Tunney*

I instantly say "Thank you, Howard."

"lifetime suspension". You don't say.

Im convinced there is no better looking a move in wrestling history

Arn Andersons spine buster

Even in retirement he ****ing pops them

I'll never understand the appeal that Eddie Guerrero's "Three Amigos" suplex sequence had. I can't immediately think of anything that is so blatant in broadcasting the opponent's cooperation with a set of moves. Just impossible to suspend disbelief enough to pretend that he's actually brute-forcing his way into the whole thing, particularly with Eddie's size.

That Arn spinebuster at WM X-8 was definitely awesome by the way.

Certainly very memorable. I've never seen that Take vs. Flair match but know that spot very well.

Chavo Guerrero's "Three Amigos" sequence of suplexes?

The other issue is that the garden-variety vertical suplex is so commonplace that it's not believable to see three straight as anything particularly damaging anyway.

Nothing to do with Eddie since I don't remember ever seeing this spot from him, but the handspring back elbow in the corner (Ultimo Dragon did this frequently) is always an obnoxious spot to me because it's plain as day that the person is actively softening the blow for their opponent by doing a handspring. Sprinting in and hitting the person would always be more painful.

Instantly thought of Okada upon that description. He does exactly what UD did but w/o handspring:

Whenever I think of the handspring to the corner I think of Chyna at WM X-7 which is the worst executed wrestling move of all time.

Yeah it was a signature of Chyna's as well, and hers was particularly rough. I singled out Ultimo because I generally loved his arsenal (same with Eddie in the other example obviously).

There's probably plenty people could say on the topic of least favorite parts of their favorite wrestlers.

I actually enjoyed Ultimo's handspring, I havent seen Chyna's version yet

I love those showy type of moves. I might be using mental gymnastics, but I like to think the character is so egotistical that they can afford to lessen a moves impact for the sake of a crowd entertaining spectacle
**WWE NETWORK THREAD** Quote

That would obviously be the available explanation for why it would be okay from a psychology standpoint, but there was really nothing about Ultimo's character that suggested that.

I was perfectly fine with the People's Elbow, because it made total sense for Rock's character to spend 10 seconds jerking off before dropping a basic elbow and acting like he was really doing something spectacular.

I actually thought Ultimo did cater to the crowd a lot. Even his outfit was showy

I guess each superstar is open to interpretation though and I know I suspend my disbelief a ridiculous amount to enjoy some of these matches lol

I enjoy Big Poppa Pump's crowd work before and during matches in mid 1999

He really gave you the feeling he could actually assault a member of the audience at any time
