I saw they have 81-83 up. I'll probably download it sometime soon.

Ellering looked like a really poor man’s version of Superstar Billy Graham back then.

Has anyone checked out the collection of RAW’s top 100 greatest hits? They are divided up into blocks of 25 but hadn’t released the top 25 yet. I tried to start watching 100-76 but these aren’t moments, these are more like segments. Way too much to watch.

I know it's not the same thing, but I think throwing out an RIP Mt. Fiji is appropriate. Watched a ton of GLOW when I was a kid.

For anyone who doesn't have the network atm, if you resubscribe now, you get three months for $0.99. Not sure if it's $0.99 per month or for all three...I'm not sure that makes a difference. I'm (sadly) going to be getting it because I'm gonna watch the Rumble with the in-laws. Happy to not pay full price though because **** them.

This went out to only people who had the network prior. Big Dave went off on the RAW recap edition of his podcast this morning. It was great. Slamming them for giving it away during the busiest time of year...he has a point.

Damn I was thinking of having a months or 2 break a little while back

Does seem silly to do it at this time of year, fire that person who made that decision Vince

No it’s actually not that dumb of a move. If you give them 3 months for such a low price, it encourages a lot more people to give it another try. They have added a lot of stuff recently and getting more eyes on that is never a bad thing.

Also a nice side effect for WWE is that there will be a percentage of people who will forget about it and when the 3 months is up will forget to unsubscribe and pay the regular price for at least another month. Just think about how many recurring subscriptions you have had over the years and how many you didn’t cancel as soon as you stopped using the service. Hell, there are still people paying 19.99 a month for AOL

I agree that it makes sense. Most people aren't on the ball about canceling subscriptions in a timely fashion.

Could be something as simple as they are below their subscriber targets and want that number higher for their financial report

I won't deny any of that but why do it for these three months? Makes more sense to do it right after WM and end it just before SS.

Interesting things I've heard while watching Mid Atlantic ('81) on the Network.

"Roddy Piper hates Indians."

&

Sgt Slaughter: "Let me show you what I can do with a boy."

Two things you're very unlikely to hear on a wrestling program (or anywhere) in 2017.

Per Rajah.com -

- WWE is going to be adding 38 of the old Coliseum Home Videos to the VOD section of the WWE Network beginning in February. Old episodes of WWE Sunday Night Heat and WCW Thunder are also rumored to be added now that the lawsuits by Buff Bagwell and Raven have been thrown out.

EDIT - WWE Network News suggests it will be one huge drop. all on Feb 5.

Man, I loved the coliseum videos. Some of my earliest memories are going to my local Errol's and browsing through these videos. The nostalgia levels will be through the roof.

Thunder, I don't know how much I care about, same with Heat, but I feel Heat was good sometimes, when they were live right before PPV's, IIRC.

That answer is simple. You do it now, because it means more eyes on the product. Which time period is going to get more viewers? It’s now, and I’m guessing it isn’t close.

I know this isn’t the best comparison, but think back to Wrestlemania 14. If you remember on TLF they talked about what it cost for Tyson to show up, and what it meant for WWF’s bottom line. They surmised that without Tyson, they would have made some money on WM that year, but for what it cost for Tyson, it would only mean they break even, but in breaking even they got a hell of a lot more people to tune in each week leading up and more people to buy the event. In the long run it made better sense to break even in the short term.

Now like I said, it’s not the best comparison, but I think the point is there.

I will admit though, if they offered this to every single former subscriber regardless of when their sub lapsed, I don’t think that is the best move, but if it was only sent out to former subs who met a certain criteria, then I think that is a really good way of going about it

Redirk has kindly offered his services to run a Rumble pool. Going to spam this in the major threads in case thread subscribers wouldn't see it otherwise.

SummerSlam '93, Bret Hart puts the Sharpshooter on Jerry Lawler and induces a submission, then keeps the hold on forever after the bell and causes the referee to reverse his decision to a DQ.

The general booking here was fine, but the fact that Bret's music never plays after he initially wins the match seems like a dumb, wall-breaking stylistic choice. Having the production truck so blatantly signal that they knew of the unconventional reversed finish is a poor way to present things. They could have easily played the music and then faded it out so that the bell could ring ad nauseum while officials tried to get Bret to break the hold.

At least the main event made up for the lazy storytelling here.

Nothing about viewing games has been announced yet. However, Lapsed Vince has announced that professional athleticism will be placed nowhere near professional entertainment. For anyone that missed this:

My primary interests in this event were seeing Mr. Perfect take down the IC Title and Lex Luger take down the WWF Title. I never imagined that both matches would end in a countout.

I love randomly hearing criticism for a match that happened 25 years ago after never having heard any criticism about it prior. A+ LKJ!
