Wrestling's Greatest Feuds Tournament Interest, Discussion, and Nominations Thread Wrestling's Greatest Feuds Tournament Interest, Discussion, and Nominations Thread

I've been kicking an idea around in my head for a while, and since it seems that the board is in a little lull with the abysmal state of wrestling and we all seem a little sheeped-out; this seemed like as good a time as any to see if there were any interest in pushing forward with it.

As the title of the thread suggests, I'm looking at putting together a tournament for wrestling greatest feuds (probably looking at an American-centric field from the mid-to-late 1970's to the present). To add a different twist to it, and to (hopefully) inspire a little more discussion (which I think most of us enjoy more than the actual results anyway), I'm creating a point system for the tournament which is a little more complex than the simple one-vote formula.

This would be where the discussion and suggestion will be necessary, but this is the point system as I have it conceived right now with examples:

1 point per vote
3 points for reasoning/discussion
1 additional point for a changed vote with referral

Example feud round 1: Yankees/Red Sox vs. Michigan/Ohio State

Greg Anthony posts: I was never much into baseball, I vote for Michigan/Ohio State

Kirk Herbstreit posts: It has to be Michigan/Ohio State. Years and years of hatred and animosity, every year their penultimate game was against each other, and so often the National Championship was on the precipice. The Yankees and Red Sox feud has been watered down by them playing too often and being overexposed.

Peter Gammons posts: I'm going with Yankees/Red Sox. This is more than just two teams, it's about two cities, the Curse of the Bambino, the epic collapse in 1978, coming back from 3-0 in 2004. As great as Michigan/Ohio State is, I'd probably be inclined to believe it's not even the best feud in college football.

Greg Anthony posts: After reading Peter's argument, I'm changing my vote to Yankees/Red Sox.

After this exchange it would go something like this for the scoring:
Michigan/Ohio State would get 1 point for Greg Anthony's vote.

Michigan/Ohio State would get 1 point for Kirk's vote, and 3 additional points for his discussion.

Yankees/Red Sox would get 1 point for Peter's vote, and 3 additional point for his discussion.

Yankees/Red Sox would get 2 points for Greg's second vote since he referred to previous discussion.

With this format, I would probably allow the rounds to extend further than they usually have in the past tournaments (unless there is just not much more to say about the match-up), probably in the 7-10 day range being the maximum.

There's my basic outline, criticize, critique, make suggestions, or even make nominations if you're so inclined. I'm very interested to see what people think. If the scoring doesn't interest anyone; I'll still be interested in running a traditional style tournament anyway.

Would definitely love to see another tournament of this kind, but yeah Burdz and eyebooger do name the only ones that would have a chance as far as I can remember. Maybe I'm missing some, but no others come to mind that are at the same level.

The problem is that great old feuds that ran a long while, like Sammartino-Zbyszko, just aren't going to get the love from people that they should.

Like there were definitely feuds that were probably hotter back in the day, before kayfabe was long broken, the type of feuds that put heel wrestlers in legitimate physical danger the likes of which you simply won't see after 1990. I mean THAT is a hotter feud, when people are semi-detached from the fact that they're hating on a fictional character. But I don't know how well they'd get graded in a thread like this.

Taker vs. Mankind is another great feud. Started up early in '96, continued through that Hell in a Cell spotfest in '98.
