Also, Dean Ambrose retaining the US Title against non-Evolution members in the main event of Smackdown this week seems good, but I'm surprised, it's sort of out of nowhere on a go-home show.

Hopefully that's the start of him defending it more often or jobbing it away to someone who will defend it more often though.

Dammit. Didn't want to read the spoiler that Dean Ambrose still had the US Title. Just the other day I was thinking about how all 3 members of the shield used to wear title belts and now they don't have any titles. I had completely forgotten. :-O

Ambrose won to impress HHH and start the process of him being the new future of Evolution.

This doesn't seem like a bad thing at all to me? If they don't want to keep Ambrose in the feud for the US Title then I think they feel the need to have a rematch to blow it off, and the champ should go over strongly.

I guess the one bad thing about it is that it might signal that a heel turn is less likely.

I agree with what you're saying and understand they're doing this to free up both the title and Ambrose, I just don't like the way the title change went down and the timing of it. If HHH had made Ambrose defend the title against a bunch of people and then have him lose clean to Sheamus in a long match, I don't think I'd have a problem with it. Losing a battle royale and then a rematch in the opener on Smackdown just doesn't do anything for me.

I know it's not really a big deal and I'm picky though. They're showing signs of putting more stock into the minor titles now that there's only one major so I'm interested to see where they go from here.

Yeah, I mean I'm not a huge Sheamus fan either, though there are obviously worse guys too. I figure that between him being (1) a guy who is over and (2) a guy who can put on some good matches against decent+ workers, he'll do.

I sort of see this as a way they could transition the belt from a face to another face without turning the other face heel (the title change being in a battle royal, the rematch tucked away on SD) and without giving some transitional heel a bitch reign in between, which I think hurts the belt more than sort of lamely transitioning it like this.

On Raw though, when Sheamus smirked at Ambrose's plight and said "no hard feelings fella," it seemed heelish to me, so we'll see how this plays out.

ambrose losing it in a battle royal makes sense within the storyline.

if you're HHH, your primary goal is to make ambrose lose the title without regard to whom he drops to or how it goes down. the surest way to make that happen is to stick him in a battle royal, not put him in a bunch of 1-on-1 matches until he loses.

not saying creative thought about any of this, but i think it makes sense and i don't care about sheamus as champ any less because of how it played out.

I just watched the Sheamus/Ambrose match and apart from it opening Smackdown, it's done pretty well. Ambrose is banged up from Raw and gets pinned after 2 brogue kicks so still comes off looking strong.

So no BNB on either Main Event or SD...I'm thinking with a European tour coming up they might have let him go early? Only thing I can think of.

Yeah, I mean it's not like there's any chance they just forgot to book him on any of the weekly shows or chose to totally shut him out if he was available. I assume something made him unavailable.

Yeah...on Main Event they do Sheamus/Cesaro so I'm thinking they might go that direction for Payback and then Cesaro is facing R Truth on SD. Nothing makes sense. Ziggler is getting some wins...they're running w some weird Sandow schtick...the Rhodes brothers is gonna drag on forever etc.

SD is read results only for me right now and Raw is rapidly heading toward DVR the entire show and fast forward through most of it rather than watch any of it live.

Well facing R-Truth is the same as facing a straight-up jobber at this point. I think that was just a squash for Cesaro. I still think they're setting up Sheamus-Cesaro.

The booking for SD this week is so terrible. With Bryan out this is the perfect time to elevate the IC and US title, instead they have no storyline for either. Shield/Evolution, Cesaro/Sheamus, and something like BNB/Ziggler could all be enough to keep people interested while Bryan's out. He wouldn't even need to vacate the title if they used this time to make people care more about the US and IC title. I also don't understand why if Bryan is going to be out for a while they don't run an angle where Evolution or Kane takes him out. It would help legitimize both and add to a feud whenever Bryan eventually comes back.

I would still bet that Sheamus-Cesaro is happening. Squashing R-Truth doesn't run against that at all.

Bo's debut is absolutely worth a watch, it's up on youtube. The promo before the match is good, the match with Sin Cara is solid, and the stuff he does after the match is hilarious.
