What was most appalling is when she showed up to the Jets game on Monday night, her entourage included Deadpool, Wolverine and the Queen of the North, but the only one the cameras focused on consistently was the pop singer.

It's fine, I didn't think it was your style to troll in that way; my guess that it was an honest mistake was correct.

I'm a Washington State University fan who hates the University of Washington more than anything else in sports.

Positive review for Ant-Man & Wasp: Quantimania. Would probably put it somewhere in the middle of the MCU.

Spoiler:
I really liked the MODOK twist. Corey Stoll nearly...stole the movie.

GotG III was probably my favorite entry in the trilogy too.

Didn't like Quantumania. Guardians III was good and was better than II, but inclined to give the top spot to the original.

I am strangely optimistic about The Marvels despite the fact that I didn't like Captain Marvel and didn't like Ms. Marvel enough to even finish it.

You know what I really enjoy? The idiotic announcer comment, "Oh, they'll call that every time." That is obviously untrue, you ****ing moop. There is not a variety of call that doesn't get bricked on occasion. Why the hell is that such a popular thing to say?

Happily, I just saw an instance of "oh yeah, they'll call that every time" directly followed by the official picking up the flag for this call that will allegedly happen every single time.

You also rarely see an announcer that agrees with going for it on 4th down.

Then there's this type of thing from broadcasters or any sport, where they want to **** on the current product or advances that have made players and teams more efficient. You can say it was a more entertaining watch the way it used to be, but please just get it right when criticizing.

Despite low expectations because of the bits of reviews I couldn't escape, I'm definitely not hating Ashoka through 5 episodes.

Hot start. Slows down a bit afterward. It's been exactly what I expected it to be (Rebels continuation).

I really like Ray Stevenson's new character (though he's always been great in anything I've ever watched him in, sigh).

Finagled a way to get around the Disney+ price increase from $7.99 to $10.99 last year, but just got the notice that it's going to an incredibly absurd $13.99 now. This, among the announcement that they are going to produce less content and are even removing content from the platform (something about them making more money with tax write offs if nobody ever sees the content).

I never thought of Disney as a company that would ever become unstable, but they seem to be panicking with moves like this and even getting into the sports betting world with ESPN's new sportsbook. Pretty soon, they'll open their own adult entertainment division.

Angels hire Ron Washington.

Since Washington always seems like a person who deserves to continue breathing, it’s going to be difficult to hate them near as much as the Nevin Angels.

I really thought Buck was going to get that job. I know there was some controversy about Washington's last managerial job, but too lazy to look it up (think it was drugs).

Although it has it's faults and I do have questions, nothing I saw in the last 3 episodes changed my opinion of the series.

Glad to see it has an 86 on RT and solid 7.6 on IMBD.

Spoiler:

1 - What do they do with Ray Stevenson's character in S2?

2 - Thrawn is written much differently on TV than in the books, where he seems to have a bit more nobility to him. TV Thrawn is much more devious.

3 - How did the Sisters get involved with the Empire/Thrawn? The Maul comic had them opposing each other.

4 - If they're planning on doing a version of Heir to the Empire from here, the threat should be large enough that you would expect to see OT main characters get involved. I don't see them doing all the de-aging that would seem necessary, nor do I think I'd want to see that much of it.

I was fine with Ahsoka. I set expectations at a level it didn't meet, but that may be more a me problem than a them problem. I was never mad at the show. That said, Stevenson really caught short shrift in the finale, and now I'm not sure what they do with that loose end if they don't want to recast it.

I do think the show suffered a bit from the fact that they publicly announced an eventual Thrawn movie before the show ever aired, which really tamped down any feeling that something major could ever happen in the show on the Thrawn front.

I'm conflicted about Stevenson's role. While he absolutely crushed it and I'd have trouble seeing him replaced, his Mortis related side quest might have been the most intriguing thing about the finale.

Good friend of mine is a UW alum now posted up in eastern Washington. I'm in regular contact with him, but for a long time he wisely maintained radio silence about the realignment situation and the fact that his school is ****ing evil.

But last night, mid-game, as the Cougs were winning big and resoundingly breaking up their terrible losing streak, he shoots me a text.

Him: "Have you shifted into Apple Cup mode yet?"

Mind you, my team is winning by like five touchdowns at that moment, but the mere fact that he would think that this topic is anything but radioactive for - without exaggeration - the rest of his life, was quite galling to me, and I went from peaceful to very angry. I summoned a reasonable amount of composure and replied, "No real plans to shift into that mode. But I'm glad this game is going well."

Tone-deaf, he forges ahead. "Apathy about the season? I feel like Coug fans out here are going all in on the Apple Cup." Ideally, in this moment, I could have teleported into his home from across the country and ripped his balls out. But, even with some bourbon kicking around in me, I somehow mustered the will to simply not respond further (even if there was some typing and deleting before landing on this result).

My friend would generally know better than to troll me on this subject, and as a general matter he's a much nicer guy than I am, so I don't expect that he was trying to rub anything in. And yet, my friend is also not a complete moron, so I have no idea how his question of "gee heck, why aren't you responding in the usual way to this football season?" could somehow be sincere. Realistically, it is likely something like when a toddler tests their boundaries just to see what they can get away with; he probably figured I was in a more positive headspace than usual about the subject since my team was in the middle of crushing, so he wanted to see if I wouldn't full-on incinerate his skull if he mentioned it. And I didn't! So really I was being pretty soft. Anyway, he will be well-advised to resume radio silence.

And today, WSU does the despicable but honestly pretty predictable thing by agreeing to extend the Apple Cup series with UW beyond this season.

Essentially what happened here:
*Person A willingly does a massive amount of damage, monetary and otherwise, to Person B.
*Person A then graciously offers to Person B, who they know is now in great financial peril because of Person A's actions, that they can claw a small percentage of that monetary loss back if Person B will simply agree to perform a friendly photo-op with noted piece of **** Person A on a yearly basis.
*Person B shamefully bends the knee and meekly says, "okay, we accept your terms."

WSU essentially decided on behalf of every student and alum that we will completely and totally sell our self-respect for five cents on the dollar. Go Cougs!

College politics and economics are confusing except that people will always go where the money is, just like any other aspect of life or business. New Mexico St got paid $1.8m to go beat Auburn as 24 point dogs.

It's certainly true that people tend to follow the money regardless of principles. It's a bit less common that a torpedo gets to hit a ship and then gets to slowly circle back and negotiate terms on how it can benefit further from the impact that it chose to make, knowing that it has taken an unconscionable step to realistically leave the ship without much of any agency.

And all the while, UW is unfortunately making everything worse by having a great season, and just to rub double-extra salt in the wound, people are probably not correctly hating and rooting against them because people are simple and are like, "hey, these guys aren't constantly in the championship. That must make them more noble than the teams that ARE constantly in the championship." I love people. UW is Satan, and they're not going to realize it unless UW actually ****ing wins something. Quite a grading rubric.

Anyway, I think I just need to employ a cherry-picking strategy starting immediately this Saturday, where I just intermittently scoreboard-watch during these games against UW and only ever turn the games on in spurts if it looks realistic that something might happen that won't infuriate the ever-living **** out of me. I don't hate myself enough to force myself to watch games against them in their entirety, especially now that my school has sold me out and signed up to play games against them that have no right to exist.

From Dave Filoni on Baylan Skoll

Quote:
"We're in a wait-and-see pattern at this point. But I'm glad the conversation is about Ray and how great he was…. I used to have mini debates with him and say, 'Ray, you're the villain here.' And he'd be like, 'I don't think so.' I was like, 'I know you don't think so, but you are. I love that you're playing it like you're not.' Which is exactly the way Baylan thinks," Filoni said, adding the late actor "would've been over the moon" to see fans' reception of his imposing and complicated character.

"The big regret here is that he didn't get to experience that," Filoni said. "I'm glad he was at Star Wars Celebration with us, that he got to see the trailer and get a taste of that from the fans. And they've been nothing but wonderful about Ray and the character."
https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/...-death-ahsoka/

I think Filoni nails why Stevenson was so great in the role.

I guess I would have assumed that it was SOP for an actor playing a villain to at least adopt the mindset that they're not the villain. Most villains get written to have some sort of sympathetic viewpoint, so I would assume that they would draw strongly on that.
