Yeah I enjoy Marc Maron. I don't listen religiously - I mostly just periodically check the feed to see if he's interviewed someone I'm interested in - but I always like that show when I do dial it up. Very talented interviewer.

Mando: "All three turned on us."
Boba: "It's the smart move."
Mando: "Yes it is."

---

"My offer is: nothing."

Sensing some Godfather influence in this Boba Fett finale.

Anyway, I liked that series. Guess the only thing I haven't seen at this point is Bad Batch, which I realize hasn't generated a lot of excitement here or elsewhere. Hopefully it's another one where I'm left wondering why people don't like it more.

I loved the Batch Batch arc in TCW, but the spin-off is kinda aimless. I dunno, I should probably give it another shot. It’s definitely not BAD.

Your read of Boba Fett has me thinking I’ll dig it, so that’s a relief.

Oh sorry, I incorrectly assumed you’d watched it. I haven’t been avoiding speaking in spoilers. I am hopeful you would like it though.

It’s all good. For some reason, I don’t really mind spoilers when it comes to Star Wars. It’s all ancient history anyway, right?

Spoiler:
He rode a ****ing rancor!!!

Spoiler:
The final Boba/Bane confrontation was also something that was supposed to happen in a Clone Wars episode.

Yeah, I try to practice spoiler avoidance, but ultimately plot resolution is far from everything, and truly good art will hold up to repeat viewing/reading/whatever. In many, many cases, I'll enjoy the second go more than the first, because I'll catch new things and attain a broader understanding. Really the only things I can think of that I both appreciate and never want to rewatch are really harsh things like Requiem for a Dream. Thought it was great, but don't want to put myself through it again.

I was heavily spoiled on basically every major plot development in Dark Disciple going in, and while I groaned at each newfound spoiler, I still found it to be a gripping book that I couldn't put down once I started.

If spoilers can successfully cut the legs off a work so that it's just not very enjoyable, then it's probably something paper-thin that is completely reliant on a twist. I'm looking at you, M. Night.

Despite the fact that it made for a good moment in this episode, it was hard to feel great about them killing Cad Bane so quickly upon his arrival to live-action. Either they killed a strong character overly quickly, or they're doing the ****ing Star Wars thing where death is merely temporary.

Lolll, I’ve seen Requiem 6+ times.

But yes, totally agree. Often while watching a good new movie I’ll be thinking, “man I can’t wait to rewatch this!”

It took me multiple viewings of both of the first two Godfather movies to really love them. In both cases, I only really emerged from the first viewing with a sense of, "Well, there's something there..." But as I've fully immersed myself, they have easily emerged as my favorite movies ever.

Sometimes a movie can be readily accessible on first go and still hold up extremely well as an all-time great too though. There's really nothing complex or difficult to understand about Shawshank Redemption even just on the first watch - I doubt that rewatching has helped me understand too much more about it, because it's really a simple film - but it's so beautifully done that it holds up to as many rewatches as a person can give it.

Not necessarily. Because SW storytelling is non-linear. That was just his endpoint in the timeline. Or yeah, they could Fennic Shand him.

Ended up knocking out the last half of Moon Knight tonight with a light MLB schedule. Ugh.

There was more Boba Fett in the Mando eps of Boba Fett than there was Moon Knight in half the episodes in this show.

I've been finding myself liking deep television shows much more than movies lately because you get so much more story and detail. I often wish some of the better movies were more fleshed out as a series. This is the first series I remember thinking would have been much better with less story in a two hour block.

I was compelled to watch the one hour making of special too. These people were all thrilled with what they made and pointed at the lack of the main character's screen time as being exciting.

One interesting tidbit I did learn was that Oscar Isaacs filmed Star Wars, Dune and Moon Knight all in the same desert.

I'm glad I pulled the plug midway through episode two. I've watched the first two episodes of Ms. Marvel, and I plan to watch episode three, but it's tough for me to love that one too. I can sometimes still enjoy shows featuring high school kids, but this feels kind of extreme in the teeny-bopper direction. I do wish the show well since I think it's cool to have more East Indian representation in high-profile stuff. I've enjoyed the shows that have been based on characters already established in the movies, but introducing new characters through shows has not seemed nearly as good so far. She-Hulk looks crappy too, as I think I mentioned.

Also regarding MCU, Dr. Strange 2 is dropping soon on Disney+, which prompted me to inquire with Google...

Dammit. Not the answer I was looking for. I guess I'm probably going to have to break my longstanding no-rental rule and drop the money to rent Spiderman: No Way Home, since it sounds like it's still over a year away from hitting Disney+ (after about five more MCU movies have come out).

Spidey pops on Starz July 15th (think that's where most of the spider-verse movies go).

Yeah, I had watched the other MCU Spidey movies on FXNOW, I was just able to get that because I have a YouTube TV subscription; I think the Starz thing is new. But if it's hitting there on 7/15, I can just wait on that. Seems like a lot of people were disappointed in Dr. Strange 2 anyway.

Thankfully, I've been able to avoid pretty much everything concerning Dr Strange, but considering the expectations, I was a bit concerned about Raimi, knowing the kind of film he usually makes. It was fine for the original Spider-Maguire movies, but wasn't sure he could live up to the expectations set by recent MCU efforts.

Somehow, it escaped my notice that Fennec also said, "There's a lot of credits to be made from that orange powder" during this episode when the spice trade came up.

It does look interesting, but I haven't seen it. I don't inherently have a problem with really long movies, but it does tend to take me longer to actually get around to dialing them up when I'm choosing what to watch.

It would be the first 3+-hour movie I felt that way about on first watch. I suppose The Godfather feels that way now that I'm well-versed in every frame of it, but no way I felt that way when experiencing it for the first time.

I was going to say that Dune is first in my queue for 3-hour movies, but I see that it's 2:35. My brain had just tossed it into the "long" chamber. But in any case, that's another one I have to see and haven't gotten to yet.

I'm through three episodes of Obi-Wan. The premise is fine. Seeing Flea did take me out of it for a minute at the end of episode one. There is some continuity I wonder about with the original movie (like shouldn't Leia remember Obi-Wan when she sent him the plea for help through Artoo) and while all the Vader stuff is cool, the sense of concern isn't really there because you know what happens.

Interesting choice to have them face off prior to New Hope. But Vader only said it was a long time since he sensed the presence of Obi-Wan, so it doesn't really break anything. I can't believe James Earl Jones is still doing this. He's 91 freakin year's old.

Popped for the "Quinlan was here" line. (Which you probably had to read Dark Disciple to get)

The voice of the guy who transports them, but then turns them in, I know it, but can't place it. I wanna say he voices one of the Muppets.

It sounds like the Vader voicework has been done by computers and that James Earl Jones himself wasn't involved.

The Obi-Wan series was uneven, but I'm glad for the experience overall, and I put it on a similar quality level to The Book of Boba Fett. Obviously the stuff in the Mando timeline doesn't have people watching continuity like hawks like something in the Obi-Wan timeline does, so that's an advantage that those shows have.

The MAGA trucker who picks them up and rats them out was actually voiced by Zach Braff.

I thought the Vader voice sounded a bit difference, so actively looked for James Earl Jones in the credits. Chalked it up to aging. Does sound like he at least had a little help. Still not sure if he recorded the new lines or not:

https://screenrant.com/obi-wan-darth...es-earl-jones/

Zach Braff was certainly not the voice I was imagining. Sounded like he was imitating someone playing a character.

I probably spent more effort nitting on continuity than actually enjoying most of the Vader stuff. I know Lucasfilm has a story group that's on top of this stuff too. As much disdain as I have for the sequel trilogy, the one thing I can credit Disney with (or at least allowing it to happen) is peak Vader, whether it's been live action (Obi-Wan, Rogue One) or animated (Rebels, Clone Wars).

The one thing that did really bother me was the Anakin/Vader reveal. It's been stated in a few of the novels I've read and also inferred in some shows that nobody is supposed to know who Vader was, so for this random inquisitor to have this information just struck me wrong. I much more enjoyed the Anakin reveal in Rebels, when he fought Ashoka.

It sounds like you've finished? I'll put spoiler tags on the rest of this, to be safe:

Spoiler:
Reva was a poor character with an ill-conceived storyline. Still, I'm not really bothered by her knowing Anakin = Vader. She had personal knowledge that Anakin was serving the dark side when Order 66 came down, so she was fully aware that the public story that Anakin was among the dead Jedi traitors was false propaganda.

I do think this series turned the Leia holocron in Episode IV into a continuity flub, but it's not one that irks me too much. I thought the other threats to continuity that were presented during the initial episodes were pretty reasonably tied off by the end.
